Just curious, he's a brumby on a FB page I follow. I can't decide if he's palomino though his mane and tail are sandy, very pale chestnut or one of the pearl variations I'm not very clear on. He's not double dilute as has dark eyes.Matagi.jpg

He has no dorsal or ear bars in tbe extra pics, I agree he looks to have a dun-ish tone to his dilution but I think he is likely just palo (doesn’t look right for homozygous pearl which would be the only other option dilution wise and no idea if brumby’s have it)

I do wonder if there's a bit of editing going on with the colours. Love a colour discussion though and the yawning pic is super cute.

Derailing the thread further… I loved the silve4 brumbies and also thought they were grey (white) so I jus5 asked the lovel AI and here’s just the starter of what it said:

The Silver Brumby, Thowra, was a creamy-silver stallion with a coat that turned silver in winter and a silver mane and tail. His distinctive coat, the result of a cream base color and a silver dapple gene, made him stand out among other wild horses and made him a target for capture by humans.

Appearance
  • Base Coat:
Thowra had a creamy base coat, inherited from his palomino mother, Bel Bel.

But that doesn't make any sense 😅 as silver dapple gene isn't visible on a palomino it's only expressed on black or bay based horses. Unless AI is trying to say silver dunskin and I definitely didn't get that from the books. I always thought they were either cremello or pale palomino.

Right that's it, I haven't reread them all for ages,so off to unearth my paperbacks.

I looked out over a valley hidden in mist a while ago and I stood there thinking that's how Throwra and Kunama looked out over a valley hidden in mist before the skiers emerged. Some books make an impression you never forget.
