One that was once dapple grey and now is white grey and one or two dapples still visible on her bum in summer.
And one that was once liver chestnut now turning chestnut!!!
The boys are piebald, an (so I've been told) unusual dun and my beloved Krypto is a bright bay, but according to the vet he won't be for long, and he'll be a grey instead of a bay!!
I'm another pink horsey owner. I consider him chestnut roan though rather than strawberry roan as he is a really rich chestnut colour at the moment with a frosted appaloosa bottom.
"Bay:
A horse with a reddish coat and black mane, tail and points (i.e. the limbs and muzzle). The coat colour can vary from red, to brown, to yellowish, and dapples may be present on the coat, especially in the summer.
Black:
A horse with a completely black coat with no traces of brown hairs. White markings are permitted on the face and legs. If there are any brown hairs (usually on the muzzle)then the horse is considered to be brown regardless of how dark the rest of the coat is.
Brown:
This is a horse with a mixture of black and brown hairs with a dark brown mane and tail. A very dark brown horse may appear black, although it is likely to have a lighter coloured muzzle. "
My horse is described as brown on his passport, but his mane & tail are black - so I consider him very dark bay. There are no traces of brown on him during winter - he is totally black - but he has a brown muzzle & points during summer.
Mmm I'll look into it as I would have described him as a dark bay.... I always thought that a brown horse would have a brown mane & tail ? Otherwise it would be a bay but will research it a bit as I'm now wanting to know
