WHAT COLOUR JACKET/JODS?

-im new to Hunting and want to get myself kitted out ready for the new season (and my nerves!)

What colour jacket and what colour jods are acceptable?
Do i wear a shirt and tie, if so, what colour tie?

I have brown chaps/boots and a Blue Harry Hall hat

Sorry if i sound like a numpty.. also, is there a certain colour saddlecloth/boots that my horse should wear? Is white acceptable?

How old are you?
If 18 and under you wear a tweed jacket for all hunting. If over 18 you wear a tweed jacket for cubbing and black jacket for the open season.
Light coloured jods so biege or cream.
Shirt and tie (any colour tie) or a stock. If wearing a tweed wear a coloured stock, if wearing black jacket than a white stock.
At long as your boots and chaps are the same colour they should be fine.
A white numnah would be fine or a dark coloured one. If your pony needs boots make sure they are taped on and fit very well to minimise dirt and sweat rubbing his legs.

Not much to add to irishcobs comments, but she forgot to add about that most essential bit of kit (for nerves) - the hipflask! Preferably filled with something yummy and warming for sharing with the field

I wear a black jacket with a yellow waistcoat underneath, white stock with a silver pin, buff jods (had them on for the ride), black boots and a black hat cover! That's us hunting on the left side of my sig (ignore the mud, we both hit the deck!) For autumn hunting I have a green tweed jacket, cream shirt, green tie, same boots & jods and green silk cover (basically my show wear, except for the hat).
T has a black numnah and no boots. He doesn't wear them anyway but they are more trouble than they're worth as they get dirt underneath them and can get caught in things.

re numnah, looks neater if your horse has a proper numnah rather than a saddle cloth. I find sheepskin is the best. Either in natural colour or black/brown depending on season(cubbing/brown). If you can get a pair of proper leather riding boots, that would be better as if you get kicked or get knocked into a gate, chaps dont offer too much protection! Not that boots do, but a bit more anyway!

Don't forget that if your hat has a ribbon on the back you have to tuck up the tails.

Cubbing is pre-season hunting, now sometimes called autumn hunting. The Pentyrch is usually in September. It gives the young hounds/horses some experience of hunting. The attire is different because it's pre-season. Do you have a hacking jacket? If so wear that, if not, don't panic, it's not the end of the world if you wear a black/navy one.

Well done for taking the time and trouble to find out about hunting attire and ettiquette before you go hunting.

However, the most important thing to remember is that it is supposed to be FUN!

Same as the others say - apart from the U18 crap.

If you want to hunt regularly, all day, get yourself a wool hunt jacket - they are so nice and warm!!

I wear beige jods, black boots, tweed jacket , navy hat, shirt and stock, he wears a black or white numnah (he's grey) and no boots although if he did they are black (as that's the only colour i've got)
