I am in the fortunate position of having a horsebox built.
I need to chose the paint colour for the exterior by tomorrow.
But, I don't like most of the colours I can use! Link below.
http://www.ralcolor.com/

I don't want blue, grey/silver, brown, black, red or green. Which doesn't leave much else, besides orange, yellow, pink or purple.
I like the last 3, had a lovely yellow 3.5t box made, but this one is a 7.5t and I think yellow or orange will be too much on a bigger box. Pale pink or lilac looks to be my way forward, but I am not keen on the various shades on the ones here!
Any help or opinions please.
The box will have a subtle stripe,in a contrasting colour but I can't even think of that until I get the main paint sorted!

I dont think I am going to be any use to you, we had ours re-painted in British Racing Green, to cover up the Manky Maroon. I think BRG looks very smart, we have gold coloured writing and a stripe down each side. Whatever you choose, make sure you have plenty of touch up paint, those trees and hedges will get you on the wy into and out of every venue!

Thanks Yorks!
Good idea to ask for extra to be made up or supplied, trees seem to grow tentacles when we are round the country lanes!
Not a Green fan as you already appreciate, but would love to see a photo of it in action on your box.

I've been looking at second hand horse lorries online this week with a view to buying one. I know it's horribly impractical but I do think that cream or white with a navy stripe looks really smart.

I'm another who is not a fan of dark greens. Maybe because I've nearly hit green cars on more than one occasion as they blend into hedges.

Have you tried looking at images of boxes for inspiration?

Yes, that is partly my reason for no greens. Also, dark colours generally are not good for people realising they are there.
Yes, looked online but nothing jumping out at me except colours that don't seem to match any on the link I have!

Depends a bit on if you want the box to have any resale value. Boring colours will save you money longer term but if you can afford a new box that might not be such a big deal.

What colours do your horses wear?

I'm not surprised you can't choose! So many colours to choose from!!!
Mine is a terrible colour. Think smoked Salmon. I have no idea if it's pink, orange or Bronze as on the log book. However at a busy event amongst the white and silver boxes it's always easy to find ;)
Weird colours are advantageous

Some of the blues on there are nice, in my opinion, they would still look smart but the lighter blues might stand out a bit.

But maybe I'm now institutionalised and like to see my whole world in Wedgwood blue!

Right...I'm good at this!

Pink - way too Jordan. Will seriously hinder re-sale value.

Yellow? Ditto, will look like an AA van!

Purple? Well a really sparkly heavily metallic purple can look good...

Orange? You can get a really lovely sort of caramellly orange, saw it on a lot of the old-style bicycles a few years back...that might look great.

Idea: Ask them if they really are restricted to RAL colours. Might cost a tweak more, but most paint shops can mix up any colour.

And you'll get a much MUCH better idea looking at a book of colour chips. Most bodyshops should have one, if not try Motor Factors.....

And don't feel bounced. If you need an extra day or so, I'm sure the heavens won't fall....

ETA For the caramel, think 2 parts 2037 to 2 parts 1037.

If you are going to use the horsebox In the summer then white would be the colour to go with as it reflects the sunlight the best to help it getting too hot inside. You can jazz it up with stripes or decals.

Wow, I so want to get mine done in the Azure Blue with black and silver swirls :) Sorry, can't be of more help but as far as I'm concerned any colour will do as long as it's some variation of blue LOL

Look on Bloomfields for their mega gorgeous dark grey with pink or orange edging ones. They look amazing. I think looking at a colour chart online like that isn't going make it easy, so I would look at images of what you want and then show it to the person doing the work to get the closest match.

Sadly the choice of colour is not made in the same way as for a tee shirt.
Your head has to rule your heart, and you should compromise.
Paint it pink and you will wipe thousands off its resale value, and half your potential resale market will never bother to look at it.
Select a common colour and you should have a swift resale.
Dark colours make the vehicle difficult to spot on the road, even if they look smart. Lighter ones are better.
Try looking at other boxes and even trailer manufacturers products', and then choose. They will have done a lot of market research before settling on their choice of colours.

You're right...but thinking about it, why can't the poor OP have some fun?

After all, when you come to re-sell the pink will rule out 90% of buyers...but the other 10% (OK lets be real perhaps 2%) will bite your hand off!

Must admit, I have a loathing of decals and jumping horses....but love stickers of cute cartoon horses. No accounting for taste as they say....

For myself I would look for a colour that isn't invisible on early mornings so not dark & no greys or silvers.

Saw a big box on the M1 yesterday in a pale turquoise with dark grey decals. Very striking but not too loud or likely to offend.
Cream & charcoal together look good.
I agree with too many are white & harder to spot across a field.

It's all down to personal taste, I wouldn't touch pink or lilac with a barge pole and although I have no plans to sell mine, I did consider resale value when I had mine sprayed.

I went for red, VW tornado red to be precise. Means touch ups are easy as its a 'standard' colour and you don't actually get many red boxes so it's easy to find in a busy lorry park

I'm also waiting for a new horsebox in build at the moment. It went for painting last week. I found picking the paint colour was the hardest part as I knew exactly what I wanted by way of storage, living and horse area. I initially wanted a blackberry colour but at the last minute changed my mind to Pacific azure blue which is a bright teal colour. I figured it was easy to see, not a standard blue or green and would resell easily. I can't wait to see it.
When I went to agree my layout they had a lemon yellow, an orange and lilac boxes in for servicing etc. I'm used to the grey, blues you normally see so it was interesting to see some unusual and brighter colours. The lilac looked the best of the three but wouldn't be my choice. I guess it depends on how long you plan to keep the box as to how out there you go with colour. I figured I would probably only ever buy one box made new to my spec so have gone for things that work for me and didn't consider resale.
I'm so excited waiting for my box, should get it by the end of the month.

Thanks!
Life's too short, I do intend to keep the Lorry a very long time, barring anything unforeseen happening.
And, so, it should like something like this, only its not an Oakley, and not an HGV.

The WHOLE HOG must be gone.

I'm thinking many many strips of LEDs in the cab. And many extra driving lamps at the front of the luton. And much chrome.

And probably a dirty great air horn.

Truckfest meets My Little Pony meets Barbie.

Perfection!

Defo no chance of missing us then!
Pimp my ride
