Just wondering what colour rug would suit my coloured gelding. He is chestnut & white, I think that best describes his colour. I'm getting rugs for him at the weekend, and my sense of colour is terrible. Any ideas very welcome!!! :)

My mum had a chestnut and white, real orange one, and her colours where sky blue and navy blue, and it suited him [=

hope this helps!

Navy, royal blue or dark green. :)

I have a chestnut mare and she looks stunning in her royal blue bucas rug.

I'd love to get her this green one, if I ever have lots of spare cash! ;)

Ooh, I love that green one. Which style is it Faracat, or do you know anywhere that sells them?

Surely whatever colour fits?

I mean... you should be worrying about the fit of the rug before the colour... different makes do different cuts so work out what make fits him best first and then go from there... they all end up the same colour in the end anyway... brown!

I don't think it really matters what colour you buy, by the time your horse had had it on for day it'll look either mud coloured or stable-stain coloured! If your horse is anything like mine of course - also coloured!

It's a Bucas. They are very nice but expensive rugs.

Sometimes you can get the same rug in different colours (Horseware Amigo is a good example) so then you can choose the colour that suits your neddy best. :D

Sky blue, green or purple all look nice on my skewbald :)

However, turnout rugs are one thing I couldn't care less what colour they are! All end up mud-crusted within 3 days, you can't even tell what colour they once were.

She does look very smart in her forest-green show rug with gold binding though ;)

Thanks guys, I obviously would consider fit first, but as my friend works for bucas, i have my pick of what i want and can get any rug adjusted to fit, if need be. I'm not a girly girl, dont ever get my nails done etc, So to compensate, i like to have my horse matching with accessories. Navy/sky blue sounds really good, so will prob go with that colour, if i can. I know outdoor rugs get destroyed, but I'm just being silly with having it just the way i like it to begin with. He really needs a new headcollar too, (he's wearing pink at the moment, as his one went too small for him). I'm going to kit him out in sky blue/navy next week, and if i ever figure out how to upload pics, i'll post em!! Thanks agian. XXXx

Blue or green looks lovely on chesnuts. And even when they're covered in mud, at least you know that they're a beautiful colour ;) Anyway, if you're paying for a Bucas, get it in a colour you like! No good spending money on something you don't like.

-Totally agree, but i get a good deal from my friend. she gives me cost price on anything i buy, the mark up is crazy, so I'll shut up now and be thankful that my friend works for them.!!!!! Must go measure him and see what size rug i need. Thanks again!!!

Thanks, now i'm back debating between emerald green and sky blue/navy, only reason i wasn't considering green, is that i dont like it cos it doesnt suit me!!!! how sad, eh!!! does anyone have pics of chestnut/skewbald chestnut with those colour rugs on, just so i could see. thanks!!

Took the words out off my mouth.
Does colour really matter??? Crist I could now care a toss on colour but fit is important.

I agree with the fit, comfort and practicality of the rug being most important. Having said that my rug just so happend to be my fav colour purple and you now wouldn't know it was as mud has made it a light brown!
