As above
Im confused. Do you mean hunting or shooting open season? I have never heard hunting called open season, which may be my limited knowledge, however assume because of the forum you are asking about that.
Autumn hunting should be in ratcatcher I.e tweed of any subtle colours. After opening meet during hunting proper a woman should wear a black or navy jacket. Many opting for navy as more flattering. However most hunts would understand if an occasional visitor wore tweed. Under 18s should remain in ratcatcher.
I should have thought that the last thing a hunt should be worrying about is dictating whether a female mounted follower wears black or navy. Either are normally considered to be correct. If that is a serious rule, then I'd looking for another pack rather than buying a new hunt coat.
I might be wrong (as I frequently am) but an older lady that I used to hunt with when I was younger always told me that un-married women wear navy and married ladies wear black.
Not sure if it's true but I always liked it and hoped in my 20's that my navy coat would signal that I was available to some handsome young Lord!
