Always brown.

No idea about the showing trends I am afraid, but would a horse really be placed down for the colour of tack over performance?

Havannah brown. IMO black can look a little stark agaisnt a snowy pony. My girlie despite having a dark mane has chestnut colour flecks in her white coat so dark havannah is a good compromise.
Any colour will go though, the beauty of having a white horse.

Black is the new Black when it comes to greys...well if your not into showing, I've tried brown on my other grey (as in a white grey) that I used to have and also on Mackenzie who is well...steel grey although most people say ''so what colour is he exactly?'' lol anyways they both looked totally naff in brown tack and didn't suit them what so ever, they looked scruffy buggars actually and black really did look much smarter on them. All personal preference though.

Dark brown bridle and gp saddle but getting a havana jumping one. Agreed its a personal preference if not showing, I just prefer brown.

Hey neither do I hun, I meant my two looked naff but that's just my personal prefference, I dont mean every grey horse that wears brown looks naff...course not.

We had steel grey pony at one point...she did look naff in brown - black suited her better....depends on the colour 'grey' really cos there is a vast difference between 'steel/dark grey' and a 'white' grey - if you know what I mean....

Mine is a darker grey dun roan kind of colour (similar to Kenzo's but can be browner) so black tack on him all the way. Did have a brown saddle to start with, but now have black. Sadly mine looks scruffy in whatever coour tack he wears

Black for dressage and light brown for jumping

ditto! This is my preference.

but atm I have a brown saddle and a black bridle - that's what came with her

Getting a black saddle soon though so halfway there hehe!

My grey has black tack. I prefer it tbh but strictly speaking for showing it should be brown.

I wouldn't think it would matetr at local level but if showing is your thing I suspect black would be a disadvantage.

Chocolate brown. I think those of us with greys are lucky 'cos most of them suit any colour tack. I like brown & that's what all my horses have worn but if I was doing more dressage I think I'd have black tack.

Brown saddle, Black bridle (she's allowed to look mis-matched at home

) I show her in a brown bridle. I would prefer all Black tack on her but cannot afford another saddle, stupid Credit Crunch!!

My Eriskay is a flea-bitten, dappled grey (he can't do anything straight-forward!)

He wears black tack (only because the only saddle I could find to fit him was black, so bought a black bridle to match), but I think it looks too much of a contrast on him.

Would much rather he was in brown tack! His saddle has now since been sold, so will get him a brown saddle next time, so it's a nice excuse then to buy him a nice new BROWN bridle!!!

My previous grey was flea bitten and she had havanna tack my gelding is more dapple and he has black this was because I was going to wait an age for a havanna saddle - although I wish I had waited as I prefer havanna
