What colour would put you off?

I would be put of hugely by chestnuts.

Anything else is fine although I may have a small issue about a coloured (piebald/skewbald)

I love dapple grey!

Isn't it funny what we all like! Personally I like LOUD colour!! Henry is a 50-50 piebald and my absolute dream horse, in more ways that just his markings (or despite the colour, he wouldn't have come home with me).

I wouldn't look at a dull bay or plain chestnut - I like lots of chrome and odd shape markings. Something vibrant, interesting and eye catching (like these beautiful piebald Freisians http://www.nicopintostallion.com/pintofriesian.htm !!). I saw an amazing coloured youngster a few weeks ago and just wish I'd had my camera - he looked like he had giraffe print all over him - just beautiful *sigh*

So glad it's not just me that's "colour prejudiced". It's a good job we're all different. Of course now I've put my neck out and said I don't like cremellos, you can guess what colour pony my daughter will fall in love with.....

Colour wouldnt put me off buying if the horse was right in every other way at a reasonable price.

I personally like coloured horses but max 40% white i just think they stand out when they are clean!

Chestnut is my least favourite colour but I had a lovely chestnut mare for 10 years

Personally if the horses is right what does it matter what b*!$Y colour it is!!!

If your child love Pink say and want Pink headcollar, cloth, rug etc then do not get chestnut

or if you love blue maybe a gray pony would be nice - but honestly i can beleive everyone is hooked on a colour !!

blimmy i have every colour under the sun except a roan which i love and a dun which are just to die for. but i love every colour and a good safety pony should be the most important.

Wow, this thread is so indicative of the variety of tastes within the horsey world!

I personally think Bays are quite beautiful. My two go dappley in summer and their coats change in winter so that parts are more of a dun colour and parts are a choccie colour. When it became apparent I was going to end up with a 2nd bay, I did think 'oh feck, how boring', because the mare we lost in July was beautiful, stunning and palomino, stood out in a crowd and not boring in any way!

I love palomino because it is rare, but not keen on cremello. I love skewbald.

Not keen on piebald so much, unless the markings are REALLY nice and it's a lovely horse in most other ways.

Don't like greys (except steel or dapple greys).

I like chestnut with flaxen mane and tail, but not chestnut with ginger mane and tail!

I like some roans but not others. Depends on the confo of the horse with roan I think.

I love black

I ADORE dapple/iron grey. I HATE white horses- not the animals, just their colour, or fleabittens LOL

I like bays, either very dark, or really bright, and I like chestnuts with no white anywhere.

I like well marked skewbalds, but not piebald, and I don't like palominos at all, or cremellos.

A colour wouldn't put me off a good horse though.

no colour would put me of, a good horse is a good horse whatever the colour.I currently have two greys one is white the other rocking horse dapple,a liver chesnut and a bright chesnut snowflake appy.

I strongly dislike skewbalds, piebalds are a little better and would consider, hate appaloosas, not keen on roans or bright chestnuts. Love greys, blacks, palomino, dun, bay.

I really don't like red chestnuts, I've never ridden or met one I like, mare or gelding! I also had a horrid cremello pony, so wouldn't want another.
I also wouldn't want another grey as am fed up with the years of cleaning.
I like roans, coloureds and spots (blanket or vanish only though, notall over spotty) I also like a nice dun.
Out of all the horses I have owned my favourites have been spotty, roan and white, lemon and white, bay and white and dapple grey. So I think if any horses came along that resembled these chaps then I would deff be tempted!

I don't think there's anything I wouldn't go and have a look at, but I'm not keen on greys (worried about melanomas) and I'm afraid I don't like big white faces!

I saw a lovely spotted today and couldn't make up my mind whether I loved it, or whether it would draw too much attention at dressage- I always find myself going "ooh, I'll just pop over and watch how that [insert interesting colour here] horse goes".

I love all colours and go purely by personality. This thread is really interesting though, people are saying they do not like greys or chestnuts, yet I love both...just shows how different people are

I wouldn't not look at any colour... but there are some I don't like really, like cremellos, very boring greys, however I adore dark dapple greys, and chesnuts, they don't do it for me at all. But I wouldn't not go an see a horse because of their colour.

Any colour that wasn't dun !

Most colours are nice when they're someone else's horse but I prefer duns above all.

I only looked at duns this time around, which was very limiting as they're aren't many over 15'3", so it took me ages to find my new boy.

One good thing about duns is that you can't really tell how dirty they are, which is great if you are in a hurry with the grooming.

The only colour I really don't like is cremello (sorry cremello owners, don't hate me

)

Not fond of anything Appaloosy, don't like cremelloes in the depth of winter, not too fond of piebalds.

But I do believe a good horse is not a bad colour so God knows what i could end up with next! (currently share a chestnut mare)

QR-

I don't really like colour palomino - but I own 5 of this colour

.

I love buckskins! If I was to keep one of my yearlings - I'm afraid to say, it would definitely be my buckskin as I adore her!

I quite like my grulla colt, although I wouldn't bust a gut to find one of that colour.

I do not like chestnut tobianos, although I have owned 2 in the past, I'd never buy another of this colour.

I love greys but do not like the melanoma concerns and the amount of work keeping them clean.

Sorrels are my favourite colour and I own a fair few sorrels.

Never thought I would ever, ever own leopard spotted Appaloosas ... but I do, and they are truly wonderful horses
laugh.gif
.

Not keen on roans but again I do own a couple of roans.

So in my case, I guess you'd say the moral of the story is, if it is a good horse it doesn't matter what colour it is .... however as you will read below, it does!

I would never ever in a million years buy a cremello. The amount of work needed and the care involved in keeping a cremello healthy and comfortable is not worth it in my opinion. The added worry of their eyes is something that I don't have time for. I have so many horses that I don't want to be having to spend so much more time with any one horse, I need to spread my time amongst all of them equally.

My faves are chestnuts, dapple greys and duns. But in honesty I'd not be put off by any colour
smile.gif
There are several stunning coloureds on HHO and I don't mind cremellos either, I love wall eyes and weird markings too
smile.gif

Personally, I find it hard to like the look of those white based, all-over spotty sorts, that have lots of pink skin showing through.

And I know this is not about colour, but I really don't like those horses showing too much white sclera around their eyes. It looks creepy, to me.
