Just updating competition wardrobe. Was black but now thinking of going navy since that is more appropriate for dressage.
My current kit is:
Pikeur show shirt with diamante buttons
Silver stock
Derby house ottawa white breeches
Ariat jodphur boots and leather chaps
Champion grand prix black riding hat.
Black shires show jacket

Thinking of getting a pikeur epsom show jacket for christmas but just wondering if you guys had this one or the diana and what you thought?

Simply from a vanity point of view, I would choose navy over black every time - black can be very draining, navy tends to flatter most complexions, lol. Just bear in mind if you change your jacket to navy you'll have to get a navy hat too!

from a *fashion* point of view, the epsom is a more *in* shape and i think more flattering too, and then a navy showjumper-y type hat, GPA, champion etc.

have a look on ebay for some second hand konig or cavallo long boots if you dont want to shell out £££££ on a new pair, you will be amazed at how much more they support your lower leg!

I prefer Navy and have a Mears wool one as I also show... as my boy is pure white I wear White Pikeur Breeches, shirt, stock and gloves and a CO H2000 Show Hat... agree about the boots! I have Sarm Hippiques which are v. comfy but would prefer more support for my lower leg so on the hunt for some Cavallos!

Just tried on pikeur jackets and the Diana fits me better than the epsom (stupid broad shoulders :( )
Would love some cavallo/ koings but it may have to wait for a year or so for me to save up! Hat as well, will just get a navy hat cover until I can afford a nice KEP or UVEX or something similar.

Pikeur Ciara in cream
Musto Innovation jacket in navy
Pikeur winter shirt with diamante buttons and fleecey inside :D
Any old stock I can lay my hands on :o
Charles Owen velvet hat - navy
And some boots which I hate, so I will replace soon...

I have;

- A cheapie Dublin black jacket, hope to upgrade to a tweed in the future but little point at the moment as we are going to be restricted to very low level/minimal BE outings going forward.
- Cheapie Dublin short sleeved show shirt (may splash out on a nicer one for next summer!).
- Gorgeous new stock tie from Top Stocks (which was so hard to choose as so many nice ones!) with a gold coloured pin.
- Derby House breeches in cream. (with a black leather belt I nicked of Mr FigJam's work trousers and have never returned! :p )
- Charles Owen Pro II skull cap with black cover.
- Cream Roekl gloves.
- Mountain Horse jodhpur boots with Ariat Crowne Pro gaiters.

Pikeur Epsom in wool (navy) - love it! Find it much more flattering than the diana as it gives you uber long legs, yet is smart and classical too.
Cavallo Chagal breeches in champagne.
Short sleeve equitech shirt (need a smart long sleeve one too!).
Stock from Morgan Equine or Mrs B.
Roeckl chester gloves.

If you only update one thing I would go for a new jacket. The difference a beautifully fitting jacket makes to the whole appearance of you both is massive. Ideally I'd go somewhere where you can try a load on (are you off to Olympia? There should be a load of stalls where you can try a heap of different styles and see what suits). A 110% vote for navy too!
Mountain horse boots.
Charles Owen showjumper in navy.

There is a theme here- and its either brown or navy!
Brown and Tan custom CO GR8/ Navy and Gold pinstriped PROtector
Brown Pinstriped Pikeur Jacket/ Navy with Gold Collar Equiport
assortment of fitted show shirts in white, navy, tan, blue..
Stock if needed
White or Beige Ariat breeches
Brown Tretorns or Brown Ariat gaiters and boot combo

Ive forgotten which model my Pikeur is, I was so lucky as at the time I visited the shop the area sales rep was visiting too and helped me order the colour in. Fits a treat. My Equiport was a massive knockdown in their sale, and I took it to a alterations shop and they really neatened up the fit.

Having dug out my compeition gear, now it fits me, plus added some new stuff, here goes:

Charles Owen Showjumper velvet hat in black.
Black Caldene woollen classic style jacket.
Tally Ho beige breeches (white on my thighs is a mega no no).
Equinox stock shirt (cant get them any more and its a shame as they are lovely).
A choice of any number of stocks Mini TX and I have acquired.
Long black bespoke Davies Riding Boots, bought in my showing days. Expensive but will probably see me out.

For Mini TX it goes as follows:

Dressage:

White Ariat breeches.
Navy blue Charles Owen showjumper velvet hat.
Pikeur Diana navy blue jacket, but for eventing dressage its a navy blue tweed by Tagg.
Stocks as above.
Toggi stock shirt.
Long black Broginis.

For showjumping/eventing - as above, plus HS1 and navy velvet hat silk and violet hat silk for xc. RS2000 BP in bespoke violet as per sponsors colours, Point Two, and a pair of beige Dublin breeches for for eventing dressage and showjumping.

Phew, what a hell of a lot of stuff.

Its annoying because I did prefer the epsom but was really restricting as the shoulders were too narrow. I tried the diana on which was perfect across the shoulders but wasnt as fitted around the waist but I may get it altered to come in a bit more, wouldnt need much. Tried on the next size up in the epsom and it pretty much drowned me so that wasnt an option.

Nightmare. Dressage Deluxe now have their own range of jackets which might be worth a go? The designs look lovely, particularly this one: http://www.dressagedeluxe.co.uk/Shop.asp?viewmode=ViewProduct&productid=1374
I found Mears and Caldene to be more generous across the shoulders when I was jacket hunting, so they might be worth a look too?

I must admit that, for competition, I always prefer navy to black, although I always wore black for hunting!

For dressage:

White Pikeur breeches
Pikeur navy Diana jacket (Epsom is far too short in the body for me)
Any old stock shirt
My "lucky" ivory silk stock, quite old now but I daren't change it!
My grandmother's old stock pin
Navy beagler or Charles Owen Fiona
White Roeckl gloves
My lovely Konig boots, well worth the money!

FJ- I have a tweed jacket i NEVER wear its to big for me, its nothing special and not a £££ one, its a size 10 yours if you want it :D
Q

Quadro, thank you so much but

at the thought of me fitting in a size 10!

If I get a really bad flu bug over winter though I'll get in touch...! ;) (although should prob check, knowing you, is it pink with diamonte collar?! :p )

If something doesn't fit perfectly, have you considered asking a seamstress to alter it for you? The lady local to us does for not much at all compared to a custom-made jacket, and you end up with a lovely fit.

Al has:
Mears tweed jacket, with burgundy lining (maybe look at Mears? Al has broad shoulders and a narrow waist and it fitted off the peg?)
Pale canary high-waisted jods
Long black Sarm Hippique boots
Brown Roeckl gloves
Whatever shirt and stock are about that morning! Usually a navy blue polka-dot one and her Shires shirt.

She won't have a navy jacket until she's doing BE Novice, but it'll be navy rather than black and the rest of the outfit will stay the same barring the stock, which will be cream.

I've got a grey equitheme jacket on the go at the moment until I can save up for a nice kings land one.

Otherwise, I've got:
navy pikeur jacket
Ariat white stock shirt or pink Dublin stock shirt
Mountain horse or DH Ottawa White breeches
Equetector long boots
Black kep hat
Black woof wear gloves

Also have the choice of:
Caldene tweed jacket
Yellow shirt
Red tie
Cream DH arizona breeches
Charles Owen Young rider skull cap with black cover
Tan roeckle gloves

Navy pinstripe pikeur scarlett jacket, gatehouse hat, stone cavallo breeches
Kingsland lovita shirt, stock and pin, ariat bromont boots.

Xc musto top
Airowear bp
Tagg breeches
Mountain horse boots
Gatehouse skull

Me and horse do very matchy matchy...

The majority of it (baring my boots/gaiters and a boy's school shirt) are second hand... mainly from ebay!

I wear a navy Pikeur Diana jacket, white Eurostar breeches, white Roekel gloves, Anky stock shirt and a silk stock from Classic dressage, Otto Scumacher stock pin with blue stones. Cavallo boots (which I hate but can't justify buying new competition boots until old ones die), and until recently a navy beagler, which will be replaced by a navy UVEX helmet under new BD rules. I'd love an Animo jacket but can't afford one really. Maybe next year.

For dressage

Regalli Richi leather boots
Toggi ISIS winter white breeches
Show quest ivory/cream stock
Silver stock pin with one pearl on it
Charles Owen navy beagler
Roeckl cream gloves
Navy TAGG FONTAINEBLEAU LADIES COMPETITION JACKET GORGEOUS

agree that black can be too draining hence why I have navy - being anaemic I need all the colour I have!!

lol...

sj pony club and if im ever dragged out by pc to do dressage its...tweed jacket, white shirt, pony clube tie, cream jhods, ariat boots and chaps, skull cap and black silk :D i hardly know anybody who doesnt wear similar outfit! think its a pony club thing :P
for xc... navy top with pink and pale blue hoops around the sleeves and if you imagine zara phillips hat cover and change the colours to navy with pink and pale blue :) and a navy bp with cream jhods
x

i know loads of people who wear pretty much this! i do! maybe my jacket might have been expensive...but that was an xmas prezzie ;) but i used to wear the syntehtic chaps too! until they got old and saggy :L but cheap countrywide jodhs do the trick and a cheap show shirt :) pc tie all the way...that i got free off a friend :P

White pikeur lugana breeches, pikeur diana black jacket, and dis have a CO Wellington hat until I got squished by my friends ex racer falling over her own feet and landing on my head! So now using my HS1 at home until I can get my hands on a new hat.

Thinking of selling my diana as although it's really flattering, it's very long and I prefer a shorter jacket (like the skarlett!!), and now seems a perfect time as I can get a navy hat to go with it!
