WHAT?? Confused.com.........Carl Hester now saying Uti and Valegro are NOT being sold

That was my thought as well dressage_diva, an annonymous benefactor might have stepped in to help. Somebody who wants British Dressage to continue on it's upwards trend obviously!

Especially given I don't think Carl ever said that they still owned the horses. He just said "they are here to stay and be cared for us" (or words to that effect).
 
interesting.... does anybody knows why Charlotte was not riding Valegro at the nationals? I assume he wasn't there because he had been sold????

i *think* this was because she didn't actually qualify. Carl qualified Uti at a premier league early in the year.
 
I would love to think that both will stay with carl and Charlotte but suspect as with all owners if the correct sum was offered at the right time they will still be sold.

I think the interview is more to quash all the current rumours about them already being sold etc

With regard to nationals the only olympic horse there was Uti none of the others were olympic or paralympic wise which isn't exactly surprising. If the rumour mill is correct he was possibly there to prove his soundness but as we well know you should never believe the rumour mill ;)
 
I read an article a month or two ago that gave the impression that the owner was bankrupt and they were going to be sold to pay creditors, but they were saying that the horses had already been sold, so couldn't be sold to repay creditors... Perhaps they have sorted it out? I could be wrong, but reading between the lines thats what I understood..

I thought that Valegro was qualified - didn't he win at Harpury CDI?

Far more likely that -

a - they decided to let him have a rest after a busy season

b - Carl decided that, as Charlotte is Olympic Champion she wouldn't get in his way of being National Champion :)

Good news for Team GB :D

Either this is a very recent (post-Olympic) development or CH had some other reason for saying the horses were already sold. I'd love to know the truth and I don't think I've heard it yet ...

Exactly this - Carl didn't actually say they hadn't been sold, just that they are staying. Sounds as though they have a buyer/buyers who are keeping the horses there and that Carl and Charlotte are keeping the rides - good news for them, great news for Team GB and fantastic news for the horses!!

It has been in a couple of papers over the past 2 weeks about how sad Charlotte is that Valegro has been sold?! I am confused!!

Plus I was reliably told prior to the olympics both horses were sold? :S
 
I truly believe Valegro is sold... But very happy to be proved wrong (my source is good)
However someone posted Uti failed the vet a while ago??? Haven't seen my said source to ask about this.
And then it all got even more confusing with the Sasha Stewart case, because at the same time Uti went from joint ownership (Sasha and Carl), to just Carl.
The plot thickens :D
 
Well my guess is this - With Sasha Stewart's unfortunate money troubles and Carl H's nightmare at the end of last year to secure Uthopia for London 2012 and the fact that Carl is now listed as sole owner, my guessing is that Uti has already been sold..... to Carl!
I would have thought there are some big offers on the table for Valegro however you would think that the riders are doing their best to source owners that would keep him with them, after all Carl is a part owner so therefore he does have part of the final say as to where the horse goes!
Let's hope that someone has been found.....
 
After watching the interview on Midlands Today what was said (& more importantly what WASNT said) I think horse or horses have been sold but Carl & Charlotte have kept the rides - wot he said was both horses are staying with them - at no point did he say that they had been sold or not sold - if you understand me. What I hope is some enormously wealthy person who wishes to remain anonymous has coughed up a whopping amount of money for them!

Yes, I agree completely.

BUT what is even more confusing is the interview in H&H today with Charlotte and how it states that she will soon have to say goodbye to Valegro!!!!

Hoping in next weeks issue, Carl will confirm whether they are still for sale, sold or sold for them to ride. Here's hoping.
