If I had £1000 to buy an allrounder between 15.2 and 16.2, under 10 - what could you suggest?

Can be green, but not dangerously so! No unbroken stallions or injuries lurking

Would be interesting to see how much the market has declined if at all.

Never spent more than £500!! But then I have always had smaller equines - Max 15.2 and have not wanted to jump to any great level (although two I have had have jumpe dvery well)

you'll be able to get an ex racer for 1000. and possibly something with an injury or a medical conditionor something that needs bringing back into work. If you dont mind green horses or ones which aren't too straight forward try project horse.Either way, for anything under 1000 you'll have to put lots of work in.
Hope you find something soon

im always scouring the horses for sale websites.got to do something while the husbands having his xbox time.

there are alot of cob youngsters that are green around at the moment, most of them i persume are gypsie cobs-mainly coloureds and also alot of TB racer types.

have you looked on places like horse quest and horse exchange? they tend to get quite a few hidden gems.

I may know of a ID x TB about 16.1, black, think he is 10, very nice school master, really decent flat and jumping work, but he will be going cheap as has a couple of issues that don't currently cause him problems but may cause a failed vetting on x rays. Can't remember all the details as he is at my friends livery yard but if you are interested I can ask her?

i have a warmblood x cob, safe/sain/sound mare... £1200 .

shes 4 but has good flatwork (lacking canter)! will try her heart out jumping - takes confidence from her rider though obvs being 4

but best money i ever spent

they are out ther - u just gta look and be patient! i was lucky - it took me 3 weeks :)

I pay very little for horses, £500 or less and have had a few bloody good ones which iv sold on for a few grand. Kept a few mind as well as to good to pass on and hunt them. BUT most off mine had a few temp issues to sort out first.

All the people I know who spent a 1000 or less on a horse ended up with a headache.

sure you can get some good horses, but you really need to know what you are doing, and be prepared to deal with possible issues.

There is usually a reason why they are cheap.

Well you'd be able to afford my 2 year old welsh who will mature at that height!!

Otherwise I'd say to go down the ex race option if know or can get hold of someone who knows what they are looking for in them, I've seen some make outstanding horses, and others not!

ooo forgot you'd also be able to easily afford the adoption fee if you went to a rescue such as whw, bluecross or rspca, check out there websites to see what they have.

go to goresbridge horsesales in Ireland, we sold a smashing sensible but just broken coloured mare there at the last sale for 1500 euro. There are lots going much cheaper too, but just be careful and bring a second opinion with you, as there are some with 'issues' that might not be obvious

The cheapies are out there. I've never spent more than £600 on a horse, most of them have some sort of issue, but its always a minor issue, nothing insurmountable with decent handling or riding. I get most of mine by word of mouth or via the free ads. You just need to be prepared to scour the ads and go and see anything that might be suitable

Over in Holland we don't have those fantasy prices anymore I see on the adverts at H&H. That's why they are exported with shiploads across the Nortsea and still make a big profit dispite the extra tranportcosts.

Tbh not a lot! You are not going to get a safe, sound, young allrounder for that price. You could possibly get something with a training or health issue, or something unbroken/just backed/aged. Possibly a thoroughbred, but not one who's done a lot of pleasure riding (not racing) unless it has some sort of issue. Why would someone sell a horse for that price when the general price for an allrounder starts at £3000?
