What could be wrong with horses leg?

I WILL be getting the vet out as soon as I can.
I want to know if there is anything I can do or if anyone knows whats is wrong before they come out. He is recovering from mites & mud fever (thanks for that previous owners), this has happened on the back of his knee. I will be getting his legs clipped as soon as I can, no one on the yard here has clippers so have to wait until we get back home for them to get done.

He is completely unbothered by it and i not lame at all.

+ going home on Friday, so probably get legs clipped Saturday & vet out Monday.

Yuk! But looks fairly typical of what lurks under a lot of mud fever scabs, a bacterial infection. I put Fucidin ointment on that sort of thing, but it's prescription only. Monday is quite a way off, I would try and get something for it sooner, you don't want it getting worse or flies getting in.
 
I had one of the yard managers look at it & she rinsed it with hibiscrub & has put a bit of sudocream on to stop stuff getting at it while we wait for the vet.
 
Wash with Nizerol Shampoo and save yourself a vets bill - if he has been suffering from mites and mudfever it is more than likely one or the other. Washing with Nizerol will kill the mudfever Make sure you wash the whole leg well with it, lather up well and work well into the hair down to the skin. Leave to dry.
