my lad has been in on box rest since monday, first thoughts an abcess, same symptoms as the 2 previous ones so called farrier who came out tuesday and had a good look ect and found nothing but said it could be very deep abcess/bruising and to pultice it hoping it would draw somthing out, well he came back tonite horse still lame and no sign of abcess/bruising
so he said couple more days box rest and pulticing to see if again its a deep abcess it mite help it on its way,but also he said that as he was miffed as much as we are and that its prob time to get the vet out,yes he mite have pulled something or twisted but i dont know, the long and the short of it is.......he is 23 has been a very hard working carriage horse nearlly 20 years, came to me just over 2 years ago to have a quieter life
i just think that maybe this is a sign of his hard life taking its toll and is more serious than we think, farrier said worse case maybe fractured pedal bone or navicular,he is a 17hh gelderlander weighing in at 700kg so no lightweight,am i overthinging/worrying for no reason, hes not really a sick or sorry horse but the lameness isnt inproving !!!!
any ideas ??
