Went out to neds at 8 last night to top up hay/ water etc only to find the old boy (30) stood at the back of his stable with his head practically on the floor having touched none of his hay

B seemed absolutly fine and as usual had stuffed all of his hay

after thinking about it he has been VERY slow to eat his bucket feed earlier and even then left a bit at the bottom.

Bit of a panic as at his age we have come to accept that at some point in the not to distant future he will leave us

and we thought he had chossen last night to depart!

took his temperature and it was normal. Went in, but came back out at 10 to check again and he hadnt moved neither has he touched his hay

managed to tempt him with a piece of hay and he purked up and started eating.

Good news was he was fine in the morning and had eaten his hay and seemed absolutly fine today but am slightly worried that it may be the start of something

Any ideas as to what could be up with him?

Thanks for any advice

could he have been a little bit colicy as my friend has a 33 year old who goes a bit like that when she is a bit colicy. just keep a little eye on him. as they get older the digestive tract starts to slow down and they can tend to be a bit more pronge to colic. hoe he is feeling better

check his poos. Does sound like colicy to me. my gelding was a colic king lol. check his poos to see if they are hard of soft. maybe give him a bit of bran mash to get things moving.
