What did you do with yours today?

Got up at 6 turned both horses out, went back to bed eventually went outside at 3pm to muck out in my pj's as I had the hangover from hell too many sambuca's last night, got them in about 4 pm couldnt face riding today.

Was quite disappointed that the friend we were going to go out with couldn't make it so, as H is a silly so-and-so about going on his own, we couldn't take advantage of the BEAUTIFUL day it was here :(

However, we did join a group lesson - which was very successful! He was a star and we even did a little bit of jumping again :D

Trotted him up and discovered that he's lots less lame, yippee! I kept him in and old his legs for tomorrow's day in the field. (Huge feathers!) I caught in a mate's horse and hosed her feet for the first time, she was excellent, kept nudging me for cuddles. :)

One of the kids a the riding school asked if she could share him and how she loves him (never touched him!). I told her he's not a novice ride and she told me she's just started cantering! Bless, maybe in a few years! (And if he doesn't have to retire:()

After having a go a the show jumping lark yesterday and earlier in the week at Aintree for the clear rounds and as we hope to do a couple of tests next week, we went back to being wannabe dressage divas and schooled! :p

Fed her at at 9am in my PJs (it's so lucky i have her at home!)
Had my breakfast / got dressed
Got her in & was glad to see she was surprisingly clean today - yay for frosted ground!
Went for a hours hack on the road, where the pheasants were definitely plotting something :P (to be fair there were Loads & they kept flying up in front of her/behind hedges and she doesn't spook massively)
Brushed sweat off her, chucked her back out.
Went to check/feed her at 6.
Pretty good day.

Not mine, but a friends...

Hacked 5 miles to a dressage comp, got just under 60% (im the most non-dressage person so for me thats really good :p ) and hacked 5 miles home again! :D

Although my backside was killing me, it was so nice to take advantage of the lovely weather on a very well behaved pony!

Both my main competition ponies are temporarily broken so I lunged the 3 year old :) I haven't been doing a lot with her as she is so gangly and needs a lot of growing and filling out but have been doing the odd lunging (in large circles using whole school) when I have time. It gives me than chance to see how she is developing and her paces are coming etc.
I love watching her move. I dont think I have seen a horse that walks as big as her! and all her paces are so powerful and uphill! Mega excited to start proper ridden work with her next year!

I re-clipped my big mare (2nd time in 3 weeks!), then tried jumping in a Bates GP. Saddle fitted her great, but she's very exuberant over a fence so I got walloped up the chuff by the cantle a few times - seat is deffo too deep! She schooled v sweetly too though, so I'm pleased and just waiting for my new jump saddle to arrive on Tues! Then spent an hour playing with my 3yo, grooming, mooching etc before putting the beds down and bringing in 8 more for my YO who was out competing. BS next weekend, so I'm sure she'll return the favour :D

My wintec GP (same thing) cracks me up the arse constantly as well! What jumping saddle are you getting? I want something to jump in and my horse's wintec fits her well so am hoping you can give me some guidance as you clearly have a 'wintec' shaped horse too about something with a flatter seat!!

Yard feed so got there for 9.30am turnt out and did all my mucking out etc, went back at 4pm with intentions to TRY go for a gentle walk in the big fields but he did't want to come in so went off and made myself clean both saddles and both bridles then finally caught the donkey and put him to bed :p

Had a lovely lie-in til 11am! (We have a Sunday morning groom an I have been across the Atlantic twice this week..!)

Kind-of sharer came at 1pm and we rode out on the top of the hills in beautiful sunshine. She rode my fizzy mare and did really well (only second time she has been) and I rode my husband's gelding.

I could use a few more dry, sunny autumn days like this.

I had my first ever proper lesson on my youngster :) ok so we only did walk/trot... and just focussed on walking in a straight line and with energy... BUT... she was AWESOME!

Apart from nearly decking me when she saw a jogger *rolls eyes*

Shy and his best mate and his mum came out in the trailer, for a long ride along a non-muddy bridle path, led by Percy the lab pup, and bringing up the rear was hubbie with my half blind terrier Sophie on the lead (as she gets lost).

Fab weather, and the coblets loved it. So did the humans and the dogs :)

I'm actually getting an old style Bates Caprilli close contact, which has been changed to wool flocking - I had one for my old horse and it was fab so hoping it will work on this one's athletic leap!
My favourite ever saddle is a Stubben hard flat seat thing I have, which I absolutely love but the gullet comes up a little too narrow even with a MW fitting headplate :(

My 3 were hayed in their field around 8.30am (Sunday hours!).
Then went back around 11am to get sec A out to walk up to the house to have his legs brushed off and greased (determined to keep MF at bay, fingers crossed working so far). Poo-picked whilst waiting for friend to collect her bridle...had a chat about mud and my youngster...took Sec A home...pottered around sorting stable out and re-organising tack room stuff.. sorted his legs out...marvelled at his cat-like grey furry ears..tacked him up and daughter rode him back to field..me and OH walked along with dogs...turned him back out...caught up youngster D and OH walked him home whilst I hayed the other two...poo-picked again whilst they ate and nattered to my friend who came past in her trap...admired my older D boy prancing in excitement at seeing my friend's D/Trad X in his trap...came home...set up stable for youngster..put hay in car for the other two for the morning...grazed youngster in-hand a bit before putting him to bed for the night...just been in and topped up water and skipped out....and admired him, partic as he is wearing new rug...assessed previously swollen fetlock, now nearly back to normal (which why he's in, normally out 24/7 unless something like this happens)....so now jodhpurs (no riding today but still find them the most practical thing) and muck boots finally retired for the day and feet firmly up as OH has offered to go and switch stable light off and shut up shop for the night. Yay.

My gelding has a Frank Baines which is flat as a pancake with no blocks anywhere but it's waaaay too long on my little horse :(

I did ask the other day if anyone knew how likely the Bates cc jump was to fit if the GP did but no one really seemed to know the answer.

(o and my GP has been changed to flock and so would any jump saddle that had cair too ;) )

Sorry, I'm thinking out loud more than anything now but I might ask you how you get on when it turns up as I keep finding them for no money (the caprilli cc) and can't decide whether to take the plunge or not. If that's ok of course :)

Of course - will let you know how I get on!

Brilliant video and stunning hacking! Your ponies look awesome :D

Thanks Rhino :D. I haven't hacked here for about ten years and never been over to that bit with a horse. It is AMAZING the difference the right to roam act has made up here. Gone from a place with hardly any hacking and no circular routes to literally miles and miles of hacking which we are just scratching the surface of.

we went up about 10ish (dad had thrown them haylage at 8.30), quick bit of breakfast for them, then we had a good groom in the sunshine before a trot up the hill and back... Turned them out when we got back and Ron managed a whole 4 yards before his legs gave way and he took the opportunity to scrub every bit of himself on the ground.... :D

then mucked out, helped Dad moving some felled timber, then helped him fell another tree, moved that, had some "lunch" (it was 3pm!) and a cup of tea with mum, before rushing up to town to get horsefeed before shop closed, then brought in and fed. Job done :) and, as it's a nice night Dad will turn out again last thing and they can go mooch about outside rather than creating mucking out for us! :)

Turned both boys out at around 9.00 and then went up to local RC show to help/take entries etc.

Back to yard at around 1.00 and bought my new boy in to tack up and hacked back up to RC for some show ground de-sensitising! He's 8 but rather green and hasn't done much show wise so I thought I'd walk him round the grounds for a bit to get him used to the sights and sounds before the real thing!

I needn't have worried, he just walked around calmly taking everything in. Even stood happily next to the very busy warm up arena, so that was re-assuring. :)

Back around 3, finished jobs and both boys in and fed around 4ish.

Relaxing now after a busy day!
