Just wondered what event horse owners pay-obviously entry fees, farrier, supplements, vet, rugs, tack but what about feed, bedding travel. With racehorse trainers they charge the owners a certain amount each week which covers feed and bedding and sometimes farrier. What about event owners???

I think it depends on the individual arrangement. Some owners pay the lot, like sending a racehorse to a trainer, and with others the rider meets some of the costs. Rather a nice lifestyle, having nice owners to pay the expenses for a rider who gets to ride the horse and take it round to events, but I suppose there is a lot of pressure too to perform well and there isn't much prize money to be won for anyone.

I expect there are recommended agreements available. The trouble comes when an owner wants to sell a horse that the rider has put in a lot of work, but who might have been charging livery costs, who gets the profit? That's why good agreements are necessary.

Everything, including paying the rider to school/compete the horse, assuming you are talking about horses that are sent to a pro to compete.

Generally you pay a set weekly competition livery fee which includes all regular livery things plus all riding, grooming, bathing, clipping, plaiting etc.
On top of that you would pay shoes/Physio/vet/entries/training facility hire etc.
Transport is usually charged per mile spilt between the number of horses on wagon.
Some riders also charge an additional fee to ride at the competition.
Sometimes depending on the agreement owners find the odd lesson too.

That is generally the scenario for run of the mill horses. Once they are proven to be good and looking top class there is usually room for negotiation for the rider to have exclusivity on the ride

Just to give you a clue three years ago it averaged £1100/ month(everything) per horse with a run of the mill rider for mine. I have different deals now that save a lot as it was unsustainable

Any idea what sort of figure would it be now for a run of the mill rider? And to compare do you know how much a top rider charges for a 3* horse?

We calculated in the region of
£1000 pcm pro rata for a novice horse
£1200 pcm for intermediate
£1400 pcm for advanced

Those figures don't account for lots of FEI runs, so if you are doing the big ones/international travel you can add on some.

Deals/discounts are very rider and horse dependant
