Hello,
A girl has just moved her two horses onto the half an acre paddok next to ours and from what shes told me she has got some people looking after the horses as shes 8mths pregnant. I go to feed mine twice a day and at first the other horses had a huge bale a week put on the field as theres no grass but this has stopped and the horses are soo hungry! There is what appears to be small bales under a sheet of plastic but i never see them on the field or any traces of them being put on the field! The horses seem soo hungry when i feed mine they wait at the fence and today when i went down i felt so bad i gave them a load of my hay which thay ate soo quickly. I dont know weather to ask the people who are looking after them if they feed them hay or speak to the owner or just to butt out. What would you do?

Difficult situation. First came to my head was the owner, She needs some one descant to look after her horses, But then I thought, if she's pregnant she wont want extra stress so I think speak to the helper. Itll probably be best all round.

you could always offer to feed hers while you feed yours-obviously using her hay and not yours. You could say that it would save time for them and that the horses wouldnt be stressed by seeing the others eat at a different time.Whatever you do, be tactfull and be sure to have the owners go ahead. Hope things work out. Mairi.

the basic needs of the horse r water, food, and comfort(feet), if you dont feel that these horses r recieving this basic care, then u wud have to speak to the owner/helpers and encourage them 2 feed ect!! am sure they will feed more, if it was me i wouldnt get involved with the daily care of the horses as that could render all kinds of complications, i feel, but that is just my opinion!! these horses r lucky ur looking out for them!!
