Ive just bought my first horse in 18 years. Will be picking her up within the next fortnight (got stuff to sort out or else would have her sooner).
Anyway what do I need?
Ive got headcollar & leadrein, rugs, nummnah, grooming kit, first aid kit, lungerein & cavison, poo scoop and fork thing, Skipping out bucket, think thats it, so what else do I need?

Are you keeping your horsey out all year? if so lost of rugs, fly spray, tack? insurance, find your local farrier and register with local vet! ummm cant think of anything else yet!
Whats your new horsey like?

Haynet(s)? Tack? Make sure you have 2 of everything because they definately go through them all! Feed Bucket, wash bucket, boots for riding/travelling, bandages, grooming kit....

When I got my horse after a year of not having one and selling/losing a lot of my things, I just went through the rideaway catalogue in case there was anything I had forgotten!

hay nets, wheelbarrow, spare lead ropes, first aid kit (you and horse) ..... um....

Had my boy only 3 months so still quite new lol. All the best and ENJOY!!!

Basics!!!! Don't get carried away on stuff cos you won't need it. In the stable - feed and water buckets, haynet if using (you can feed from the floor). Mucking out - barrow, fork, shovel, broom. Actually I use my poo scoop more than anything else. You may be able to borrow mucking out tools and stuff until you get yours. Feed bins (normal dustbins are fine, I never once had a rat get in mine in over twenty years). Spare bucket for washing etc. I have a rain sheet, a medium weight turnout and a heavy weight combo. Thin and thick quilts and a cooler. As long as you have a headcollar and rope and basic grooming equipment and some feed and a bucket your horse will be happy. The rest can come later

Sadly I have lost countless plastic bins to rats chewing them, so I only use stainless/galvanized bins now. Expensive at the start but worth it in the long run. When you have to check the bin & the feed it soon mounts up.

Play it by ear. Will she be in or out? You have probably got enough to start with now. Raid the kitchen for a sharp knife etc. B&Q for buckets.

I sold 25 years worth of accumulated kit when I moved, and discovered that 90% of it I really didn't need.

I still only possess one rug per horse and a couple of cotton sheets. Not a boot or gadget in sight.

Good Luck, enjoy your new horse.

As someone else has said, start with the basices, don't go overboard, and buy anything ele you find you need as you progress, I am sure you will find you have already bought some items that will rarely or never get used.

I hope you thoroughly enjoy your new horse
