i am thinking of putting my pony on loan and would like some info on what to put in the agreament, ie not to be move from yard without my permission, must have insurance ect any help would be great

What about:

- My pony is not to be removed from the yard without my permission
- You must have your own insurance
- I will not be held responsible for any injury to yourself or others or damage to any of your equipment
- If for some reason, you are unable to come to the yard you must let me know so I can make other arrangements
- If my pony is ill, you must notify me as soon as possible

The BHS has updated its laon agreement during the last year or so and it is worth a look. You need to put in how much notice (on either side) is needed to terminate the agreement. What the pony/horse can be used for. That it can not be sub-let to another sharer/loanee etc.

There is one on the British Horse Societys website and there is one on most Horsewatch websites too.
The one I had from the Bhs is downloadable as a word or pdf doc and can be editted and things added to suit

What you want them to be responsible for, livery (what type) bedding to be used, feed how often and make sure they moisten feed, jags, grooming and feet you want done everyday, shoes, insurance, worming, exercise, what they can use your horse for are they allowed any others on horse, tack cleaning, responsible for any damage to tack or rugs, all vet bills whilst in their care, do they have the monies to look after horse. contact is a must and pictures sent to you if you cannot visit often and you can turn up anytime and remove your horse if you think horse not being looked after properly.passport can be left with them if going to shows this can be mentioned that even though loaner holds passport for transportation means only the horse is the property of owner at all times, dates from start of loan till end of loan and have it witnessed both parties get a copy ( would make sure they have insurance first and write number of policy down in agreement )... I know lots to take on and with my first time I wish I had made sure loaner had monies, people tell you what you need to hear and I would always say check up on where horse is going first..good luck
