What do people who don't have horses do?

i was horseless for a few months - i literally had lovely hair....makeup was better - i was less stressed :D i paid a rediculous amount too to have my hair done at a top salon - the house was spotless.................

then the sod came back. :D

I have crap hair, always in a rush, room is covered with jods/horsey stuff - but i love my pony to bits :D

Ah Arizahn you are missing a trick there , we just dont have carpets , we have a rug in the lounge and then it takes afraction of the time to sweep up the fur !!

Hmm...ground floor is all solid flooring...this could work! And the cats would definitely approve!

I think they take a lot of selfies?!

Too true!

Do many people here actually go to this thing called work?

Sadly yes, Momday is D-day :(

My days off revolve around the dogs. If the OH is at work, I take out naughty creature solo cos he's a handful then the other two. Washing is done when needed/OH moans he has no work shirts. I confess, my house is a disgrace usually, dog hair is scooped up in passing, vacuuming occurs rarely.

I've become seriously lazy cos a mate works at the yard and we do each other favours. She does mornings so I can go to work by 7.30, I do afternoons so she doesn't have to hang round after work. Sadly, the horse is a bit of an afterthought currently, not that he cares. He's out, mostly and doesn't need daily work, fortunately. :redface3:

If you're looking for a legitimate work-from-home job you can do in your spare time, and you're proficient at computer use then PM and I'll direct you to my employers :) (I swear it's not a scam or a pyramid scheme, you work for a really well known international company).

Hmmm.... extra kerching does not hurt anyone...

I work full time I am also on 24/7call out as well so if I am called out in the night which can be three times sometimes I have to go to work as well the next day. There is only me in the team due to government cuts there used to be five of us. The last person left 2 months ago and I have been on call for 2 months. I am shattered but if projects don't get delivered its down to me not having the systems ready. Currently looking for a new job. So when I am not at work in the evening I do house jobs, walk dog, go to the gym five times week, look after family and ride on a saturday morning at RS as I don't have time for another horse.

Not to lower the tone but you do know that this is illegal don't you (check out working time directive)

I work full time as a nurse. If I didn't have horses we would have holidays and the house would be clean! I would have nice clothes and lots of sleep lol. But I wouldn't change my horsey life - I love it!

I know I work for the government as well. They know full well what I do and I have not had to sign anything to take me out of European working hours.

I suspect that people without horses have what is known as "a life". They go out, have proper hairdos, do Tescos in normal clothes (not looking like Wurzel Gummidge) and possibly have something I have heard called "spare cash". And they can have lie-ins at the weekend.

I have vague memories of these things .....

Um. I'm not yet sure. After losing too many old or too broken animals in the last couple of years, I'm down to three horses, three dogs, two cats and two rabbits. The horses live out 24/7/365 and none are in work (two retired, one too young). Only two dogs need walking and the younger Ds do that. The cats just need food ordering and a stroke in passing. The rabbits are content in their mansion; D enjoys buying food and feeding them and a younger D cleans them put.

I'm lying in bed at 08:20 on a Saturday morning wondering what to do with myself. The plan, after losing Boyo, was a year of working on fitness/house/businesses, getting back into the horses when Titch was ready to back and getting another one so D1 and I could both ride, but I do find it hard without horses properly in my life. The three we have are checked twice a day, have a cuddle and a brush and hooves picked out, but it's not the same.

I was never able to muck out, ride, turnout and be home in two or three hours, it always took all day. I know I wanted to do something other than spend every non-working / commuting / sleeping moment at the yard, but I'm starting to feel like this has gone too far the other way! To add to it, one of the two nicest yards around with the most lovely YO left me a voice mail a couple of days ago to say that he finally had two stables coming up. It was absolutely gutting to ring him and say I no longer need them :( I tried to figure out if one or two of my neds could go, but it's not right for them at this time.

So, in answer to the OP's question: have lie-ins; pay off debts; work on fitness; start playing the saxophone again; sort house; sort garden; do business stuff; grow fingernails; spend time with non-horsey family members; buy fitness equipment; visit places without having time restrictions. All good stuff, but, um, can't wait for the year to be up! Though I do hope that when it is and D1 are back to riding that we'll still have time for the other things in life :)

Hey ho. Sorry for the epic post. I'm not on here very often, so to hop on and see this topic, well, it opened a bit of a flood gate *imagine a wry smilie here*
