What do the words under the user name mean?

Please can anyone tell me what the word under some people's user names mean? I've noticed some say 'stranger' or 'carpal tunnel' and various other things. What do these mean?

It changes as the amount you post goes up - for example you maybe a newbie from 0 - 50 posts then you become a stranger etc etc carpal tunnel is for those of us with forum addiction issues.....

Oh and if you registered before a certain date - as you did - you wan't have anything under your user name!!
