Hi there guys

Ive opened my own livery yard 2 wks ago had quite a bit of interest .. anyway basically my sister who is 33 took on a pony from our local rescue center 14 hh mare welsh section c
she is a stroppy , bolshy but not evil mare who is very fizzy and she has a problem with mounting she runs away so you have to get someone to hold her when you get on .... well my sister has just decided she is giving up and just left for London yesterday!!!!!!!! i'm in Suffolk
shes just left her at my yard
she was meant to be running the yard with me as i have a 3 yr old daughter , its fine a i can cope..
Ive spoken to the rescue center and they have signed the pony over to me , but as i weigh 11 stone I'm to heavy for her so i was thinking to loan her but keep at my yard , the rescue center said that its all fine and they trust me to find a suitable person
what do you think
my sister has been a total cow !! shes only had her 4 wks and just given up , the pony is not a novice ride but very fun
do you think il get someone interested
any advice please ... feeling very hurt as i bought her the tack rugs, grooming kit pay for all feed hay bedding vets bills and farrier all she had to do was turn up and look after it ( she is in the middle of jobs no money ) im the younger sister 29
im so fed up

some times you can do much for people .... im so depressed about it all

Shes is a naughty selfish girl. Poor you.

I would act fast and go ahead popping ads in local feed stores, tack shops, etc and even place an ad in something like horsequest (not too expensive) get her loaned as soon as poss. Obviously you'll have to write your sister off as a hopeless case.

Then pony will start earning her keep. You obviously have the knowledge to get her ridden/loaned to a suitable person.

actually I know someone looking for a pony that size, it is a 13 year old girl but pretty capable. If it can jump a course of around 2ft 9 and do everything, hack alone, no traffic shy, etc. It would have to live here though. PM if that is an option.

I weigh 11 stone and I could halppily ride something that size, especially a welshie. My friend who weighs the same (but is slightly taller) and I were riding dinky baby racers this morning without a problem.
Are you sure you're too heavy for her?

Rescue centres often set lower weight limits for their rescues from what I have seen, although it may be dependent upon their history.
I'm slightly confused as to why she was not returned to the rescue centre rather than being signed over to you.

when i went and told the rescue center about what had happened i felt terrible ... so i said id keep her this poor pony has been loaned out 5 times and then sent back due to irresponsible people and i just cant do it ... im very friendly with all the staff at the center and they have helped me in lots of ways to get my yard up
even if i don't get a person to loan it i will just retire her , shes just settled in , plus there are lots of neglected ones they have just taken on so there isn't room for her to go back
and to be honest im a softy il end up at this rate with all rescue animals and no livery's he he
and im nearly 6 foot so i cant ride it, id look bloody ridiculous te he

You sister deserves a kick up the bum.

Perhaps the pony can earn her keep as a companion, can she live out, albeit in a 'fatty paddock' if necessary. That way you will never have the problem of a more highly strung horse being left out alone.

If she is a nice safe animal then I cant see any problems with you finding a nice teenager to ride her. You can charge a sharer fee and then she will at least pay for herself.

Either that or ride her yourself... I have read that you are nearing 6' so may look a bit odd and you may have no desire to ride her anyway..... you could post a pic of you both and let the jury decide
