What do we think of Totilas with Matthias Alexander Rath?

I haven't seen them yet.Some people like them others not.I loved to see him with Edward Gal and was heartbroken at what happened.At least the Raths have had the sense to buy 51% of the share.I think his original owners were lower than sludge!
 
I also like him better with Rath. I'm not a huge fan of his over-exaggerated paces - although I think some of this is the way he was produced - and am hoping that he'll now be encouraged to go in a more natural (and correct) manner. Obviously they're going to need a while longer to get used to each other but I'll be really interested to see their competition debut. :)
 
I don't think Totilas looks as confident with Mat riding him, however thats what one would expect with a new partnership :)

I wouldnt want to be in Mat's shoes - imagine the sheer pressure of riding the world champion horse, with the entire horsey world waiting for him to ruin the horse!!

I imagine that the pair will go on and do very well, given time to get to know each other :)
 
Don't like it at all, it has totally lost the relaxed horse that made totilas what he was, far far more tension and to me, looks less like a horse that stands out and more an average top dressage horse :S
 
I still don't like the horse, i'm sorry. I think he's a very attractive horse until he starts to move. It all looks totally forced and false. His trot is not correct, especially in extension and a change of rider hasn't made any difference (either way) to that.

On the other hand it makes me sad for EG that he's lost his ride of a life time, for MAR for having such big shoes to fill, and for Totilas who gets paraded out and treated like a commodity at any given moment.

IMO the whole situation is bad for horse sport as a whole, and especially for those concerned.

Now that is exactly what I thought too.
however probably as onlyme also suggests it is because it is a very new partnership, and only to be expected especially with all the pressure the conbination have, time will tell , Mat is certainly a lovely rider so we shall see.
