Just out of curiosity what do you all feed your Cobs or your TB's?

I have one of each so my Cob X mare is a very good doer and my TB is not such a good doer! I'm currently feed Spillers Happy Hoof to my Mare and Dengie Alfa A and Spiller Multi Balancer to my TB.

What brands to you all prefer?

I never got away with feeding my poor doer tbs a chaff and a balancer. I've always had to have them on either copra, or a complete feed (i like baileys no 21) to keep a good weight on them. if they aren't in hard work i just feed bluegrass oat balancer and oats plus beetpulp

My cob gets fed a handful of balancer occasionally as she's a good doer!

I think I need to put him on something else particularly going into the winter although he's looking pretty good right now! I just don't want anything that will heat him up

I used Baileys no 4 to build up my tb when he lost a lot of condition. Now a healthy weight and condition so am keeping him on it but only 1 stubbs scoop a day with plenty of adlib haylage when he's in is working really well. It didn't heat him up at all even when he was being fed pretty large quantities!

That's good to know! I had a TB many years ago which I fed No4 on and went through a bag a week and he didn't put on any weight - he was such a stresshead though which was half the problem! I may try No4 again!

Cob has x2 daily alpha a plus topspec cool balancer with adlip haylege once in full time hunting (i.e. Now) and blood mare has ulcerkind cubes, hifi non molasses and topspec balancer. Both look well and are performing

We feed all ours on Agrobs haycobs, the youngsters have a small amount with salt and linseed oil, the elderly ladies have more,(x2 daily) with cooked linseed, salt and linseed oil and their meds mixed in. They all have Aloe Vera juice to aid their digestive systems, too

ETA one of each type in each age-group :D

We have a mix of competition horses and hunters all in fairly hard work. No pure TB's - only ISH's which is basically a mongrel that usually has at least 1/2 a TB in there somewhere. The only cob is on Allen & Page Power & performance + Dengie Alpha A. He's a brilliant do-er but needs the energy for the staying power in the field (He's also 13.2 and 24 years old!). The worst do-er ATM is oddly a young connemara. He gets A&P Cool and Collected as we don't want to blow is brains, Alpha A and linseed with pretty much ad lib drylage - but hunting is beginning to rack him up a little so we are going to up that to a bit of power & performance and see what the impact is on his behaviour.

I'm a huge fan of A&P feeds for slow release energy without unnecessary heating. We did used to use Baileys - the competition mix. Was that No 16? But switched about 5 years ago when we got a barley intolerant horse.

I have a TB who is a good doer and very reactive to certain feeds. Currently he is Simple Systems Timothy grass, SS blue grass nuts and ad lib hay. He will get a bit of linseed too when the grass stops growing
