I have a irish sports horse who does mainly sj and workers , is a good doer but as coming into winter would like to maintain good condition on him as be busy competing throughout winter , he is currently fed calm and condition / ready mash chop and fibre nuts plus oil / electrolytes and the myoplast supplement for join supports , he gets very lit up and cannot feed any mixes as is unrideable , just not sure if this is enough for him, turnout and ad lib hayalge also many thanks

Sounds like plenty to me. I just feed Mollichaff, nuts and Topspec supplement with a small bit of sugarbeet. He's a pretty good doer, competes all through the winter and will event in the summer. He really doesn't need any more than that as long as they are maintaining condition and energy. The Calm and Condition made my horse too spooky.

Being on the other side of the world, I'm not familiar with brand names in the UK. But if your boy cannot handle pre mixes, maybe it's the molasses in those feeds?? I know mine don't need that amount of extra sugar that is for sure. I feed boringly old fashioned whole oats and it gives them the energy they need for work, without the sugar high, which we can all do without!
