Hi

just wanted to know what feed you all use to feed your tb horse espesially if he or she is fizzy.

i have a new 16.1hh bay gelding tb and im tryuing to find a balance with his feeds so he doesnt fizz up

thankyou

My TB?.....

Everything and anything. More calories the better.

Nothing changes him. At all.

Lol. Not much help sorry!

I'd suggest just eco nuts with chaff and beet and oil or something?

Hiyya,
My boy is fizzy but also hard to keep weight on.
We have him on Bluechip (don't be put off by cost as it works out cheaper) its a very good balancer and I haven't had any 'fizzyness' from any horses that I have fed it on.
I have also found that Dodson and Horrell Build up Cubes don't fizz up. Once my horse is at optimum weight though we swap to maintanence nuts.

Topspec cool conditioning cubes are also fab for condition plus calmness.

Allen and Page Ride and Relax or Calm and condition are also brill feeds that don't fizz up.

my fizzy(er) TB is fed cheap pony nuts and cheap chaff with unmollassed sugar beet. I could feed her all sorts of calmers and fancy feeds... but it has made no difference and my wallet is much happier with this option!

my occasionally fizzy and poor-doer TB is fed quite a high energy diet, as his food doesn't seem to go to his head (lack of exercise does though) he is fed conditioning cubes, micronized barley, omega rice, mollassed chaff, unmollassed sugar beet and is supplemented with vegetable oil, brewers yeast and limestone flour.

I used to feed a a feed balancer, but my local feed shop stopped selling it, I now feed Coolstance, which is really good for condition and shine without the fizzyness plus it is really good for their feet also helps with the gastric juices wich can aleviate symptoms of gastic ulcers,

Also add in some cheep chaff and a quarter of scoop of cheep cubes just to add texture to the feed, I dont need to feed alot and the people on my yard cant belive how little hard feed my loopy mare actually has,

Plus I make sure she has plenty of turn out and ride as much as I can,

Calm and condition(small amount), hi fi original, codlivine general supplement, magnesium and garlic. She is getting a bit round now though so i am thinking of changing to happy hoof or something similar. All depends if they need the calories or not to maintain weight.

Mine's on Thunderbrook pure essentials base mix and mature oats (soaked). It's been fab for getting weight on him. Mature oats have a much lower starch content than normal oats and I soak them for 12 hours and drain for 12 hours pre feeding. I was dubious about feeding oats to a TB to start with, but he's never fizzed up with them. He fizzed up badly with Bailey's No 4 though so I guess it's each to their own.

my mare is very very fizzy! and the best feed is winergy low energy. this winter and last winter were her first winters on it and she has been sooooo much better because of it! also kept weight on better.

I'm another vote for winergy, but mines on the medium- the easiest feed ever!!!

I keep a good weight on him and was only feeding winergy and carrots all winter :)

High summer I might put him on the high though, it depends on how he copes with his workload :)

Scoop Fibergy , scoop Top spec conditioning cubes , blue chip , speedibeet and Garlic twice a day . most important is a routine with regular exercise and turnout stops stressing

Simple System Purabeet and Lucie Nuts and as much good hay as he can eat. Any hint of oats (even soaked) or molasses and he reverts to headbanger mode.
