Basically I cant wear joddies/jeans tracksuit bottoms, in this weather to ride in as I boil alive. I know I will still be hot in most bottoms but would love something I do not sweat so much in. I find it awfully uncomfortable. As I am naturally a warm person anyway, and for it to be hot aswell it is killing me.

So any suggestions would be fab please

What about a really lightweight pair of jods? I've got some Joules breaches and they are really cool. Other than those, I just ride in whatever jods are not in the washing basket

I rode in denim shorts and was more comfortable than I expected, think it depends on horse/saddle whether that works though. Sister said it killed!

In summer cheap primark leggings work a treat, nice and thin.

Oh might have to see about some lightweight jods, but when I get hot I get like sweat rubs kind of thing its horrible.
I was thinking of them sweat type pants people wear for the gym?

Weeelll at my old yard, i always wear shorts and a vest top to do everything.. which is actually fine...but at the other yard it's a bit more formal, and I don't think they'd approve of riding in shorts...so i just change into jods to ride and keep my vest top- it is really hot though

I have been doing all my jobs in vest top and shorts to, but couldnt ride in shorts, I did it in tenerife once and never again lol.

My feet are ok, just my legs its awful but I have to wear full pants I cannot ride otherwise its too uncomfy. I would wear shorts if went bareback but horse is 17.2 big pansy and I dont fancy my chances lol

I'm afraid I am a true tranditionalist and ALWAYS ride in jods and a light weight t shirt that covers my shoulders! I crinch when I see peeps in shorts and vest tops... in fact its not allowed at my yard!
Yes, its hot, but I am a naturally cold blooded person so am rarely too hot!

Rode in shorts yesterday, wore body protector over bare chest, legs stick to saddle though and would be no good for a long ride.

I am the same, I always bring up a short sleeved shirt to put on whilst I ride. And will not ride in shorts.
Never thought about it to be honest just always done it.
I know a lot that ride in summer dresses, shorts etc etc but I dont.

Try some of the thin cotton jods you can get - much cooler than the 'jersey' type jods you get. I have a few different tops - anything from a vest top to big loose polo shirts and big loose cotton/linen shirts - sometimes its cooler to have a loose top on than a vest top/tight t shirt.

Have got some great socks from M&S for the summer - I have real problems with hot feet but these are doing the trick. They are from the mens section - 5 pairs in a pack - they have silver in them to help keep down the smell of hot feet - cool cotton and no seams anywhere to rub on boots - so pleased I'm going to get more!!

I always wear jods, but mine are quite lightweight cotton ones anyway, with a strappy top or sleeveless polo, depending on how warm it is.

I tend not to ride when it gets too hot. Must be my age!! I used to ride in cycling shorts and long suede chaps in hot weather as they were the cooler than jods or anything else.

I can't not wear jodphurs as i get terrible rubbing/chaffing marks in certain places!!!

So i just stick to jodphurs and a strappy top!! Its hot but i manage

I am the exact same, I have to be careful what underwear I wear, And I nearly always get chaffing marks. I remember one summer my jods were slightly too big and used to always fall down and I couldnt walk they had rubbed that much, I was in agony.

Light weight cotton jodhs - I bought a whole load really cheap in Decathlon's sale that were revolting colours and odd sizes (too big for me so I boil washed them!) and big t-shirts that cover everything. Having spent years riding in Southern Spain I learnt never to ride in shorts or strappy tops unless I wanted heatstroke/sunburn. I'm also considered odd for always wearing a hat. I wear my 'walking' trainers and no chaps (I have toe cages on my stirrups). Oh yes, sunglasses, never go anywhere without them and factor 50 on any exposed bits. I've seen what too much sun does to your skin, there's nothing sexy about looking like an old leather suitcase.

My favourite was my friend who always wore perfect gear when training his horses (hat, riding tights, chaps etc) but used to go hacking in jodhs, sandals, t-shirt and straw hat

Jods & vest top usually, always wear proper leather boots & chaps even in summer.

I put shorts on to do yard jobs though.

Glad I'm not the only one that get that awful chafing.
try lanacane for any chafing and try to use before you ride. available from boots.
you can cut corners with your clothing but always wear a hat some folks like to use the heat as an excuse not to wear one.
primark here i come fab idea !!!

See sig (it was very hot and I was being naughty!) so I rode in 3/4 length sweat pants and a strappy top. I've ridden in shorts but only to walk around. I tend to wear jeans as I find them cooler than jods.

Usual joddies with the sticky knee bits (I need them!), maybe a sleeveless shirt but more often with sleeves, and boots and leather chaps always. Can't begin to imagine how uncomfortable it must be to ride in shorts... never owned a pair!

I have endurance tights from Goldfinch, they are really thin and cool! So ace for this weather

Always wear a t-shirt when riding and fluorescents if going out on the road

I usually wear tracksuit joggers (classy I am!). Yesterday I ended up riding in cargo shorts (knee-length), trainers (Skechers to be precise!) and a vest top.

What I desperately want is proper cool riding trainers - my riding muckers are way too hot, so all I have that are cooler is my non-riding trainers :P
