I'm a bit of a scruff really, Jeans and pink wellies for me, what ever tack is around for the pony and no boots/reflective's or any of that kinda stuff.

Some people seem to get all the works out for a hack round the village - what do you lot wear??

i wear my normal riding 'stuff', feel more confortable in that and doesn't damage my saddle

Only have one set of tack so he just goes out in that with his normal boots on (he only has one pair and they get used for everything, hacking - jumping!! No fleckies unless dusk/raining or foggy!!

I always ride in breeches and boots (either ariats and chaps or long leather). That is where the smartness ends as on my top half it is whatever is due a wash but can stretch one more wearing LOL!

Generally jeans (or shorts), little top, no hat (

), hair in pony/pigtail and boots.

If I'm riding in the arenas then often shorts, bikini top and barefoot. Hair still in pig/ponytail.

I usually have jeans, my padded boots and jumper/t-shirt. Me and Chex are always covered in flourescents though. His tack is usually pretty dirty, as is he. I don't see the point in getting everything spotless, it just gets dirty again!

Me: Riding hat, jodphurs (blue, brown or black, as thats all i own lol) tshirt of some description, if cold jumper or zip up riding sweater, coat if raining. Hair tied back. Boots and chaps. Gloves. Schooling whip. Need i say underwear? lol

Rocks: Fetlock boots (as he badly knocks his fetlock when walking), saddle, bridle, thats all his kit but he always goes out looking smart, brushed all over including mane and tail and with effol on his feet (more because he has bad feet but also because it looks nice).

Breeches or my jeans, boots and chaps, and whatever top i am wearing as it all depends on the weather oh and hat and gloves

i go for the whole schabang (sp?)
jods
riding boots
polo shirt
body protector
reflective tabard/coat
hat
and one fully tacked up horse
one thing i will cut corners on is brushing serens tail, i dont often bother

How do your feet feel in stirrups if you are barefoot? or do you ride bareback?

My boots and gaiters, whatever breeches I'm wearing at the time (I wear anything from Harry Hall to Pikeur at the yard), I always wear my breeches and boots and gaiters or chaps whenever I'm riding, too uncomfy to ride in anything else! Haven't worn reflective gear in over a year, just can't be bothered (don't shoot me down please...). Usually hack out Castle in his jumping saddle, and Ali in his GP OR dressage saddle, and his usual bridle. I don't bother with boots for Castle, but Ali has boots or bandages on whenever he's lunged or ridden anyway.

Me- Always hat and riding boots but then anything else that I happen to be wearing at the time, although mainly jods and if I am going on the road then reflective tabard.

Horse- normal tack and Sunny wears boots because she loves to stand on herself

Tia- riding with no shoes hurts! Unless you are bareback!

I'm a big bareback rider.

If I'm riding a number of mine quickly then I can't be bothered to tack up; just halter and skin (or fur as the case may be).

If I'm going out for a ride then it really depends whether I tack up or not, some days I can't be bothered and some days I can, but normally when I ride out I will wear jeans and boots as there are BIG biting buggies up in our forest!

Oh don't worry, we are just in the middle of a thunderstorm right now.

My grass is finally coming green again! Still really hot though

I only have one set of tack...my good old synthetic Libbys bridle and Thorowgood saddle. I always wear jods and my long black leather riding boots...I got kicked by another horse once whilst riding and I would have had a serious injury had I not been wearing them.
On top it is whatever is suitable for the weather and loads of flourescents...never go out without them!

I always ride in breeches, short boots and chaps and always wear a hat. When hacking nearly always put yellow tabard on as the roads are quite busy where I am with lots of blind bends. Also put set of boots and over reach boots on horse, mainly because once on the bridle paths I usually have a gallop and pop a few jumps aswell and he can be nappy and prat about.

If its raining I may put a floursecent exercise sheet on aswell.

T has his normal tack on plus reflective boots behind, and a florecent exercise sheet if really gloomy.

I wear jodhs just cos I don't mind them getting filthy and my floresent coat. Riding hat and reflective band. Wouldn't dream of hacking out with out floresents as pony is tarmac coloured and the roads are just too busy. Had a cracking fall last year hacking and smashed my hat so that is now an absolute must.

If peeing down and cold have a wrap round exercise sheet that keeps me (and him) warm and dry, best thing ever for winter morning hacks. That is bright yellow too.

We kind of glo when we go out but we are not proud. Would rather be yellow than squished.

when i steal a horse to ride out i'm usually in jeans with joddy boots and half chaps!! hat and yellow tabard like vicm2509!! we are on the same yard!! the horse i steal has leather bridle and leather saddle!!

Me: long boots, breeches, hat and appropriate coat plus a hi vis tabbard, drives me insane seeing people without any hi vis.

Him: normal tack but never go without knee boots and a neck strap

It also drives me wild to see riders out without High Viz, in fact I sometimes stop and tell them off!

High Viz isn't going to stop every road accident, but it is a good start and I think motorists appreciate that the rider has taken the trouble to be visible. Don't you realise that a brown horse is practically invisible when alongside a hedge on a grey road.

I nearly drove into the local megabucks dressage horse one misty morning. A dark horse and the rider was in dark clothes. I expect the rider could see quite clearly, but it was a very good thing I was going so slowly.

You dress your horse for a schooling session, or a cross country or show jumping dressage to protect them - you shoud do the same for going for a hack as well, only slightly different. I have a luminous yellow sweatshirt and it is just habit to put it on and the horse has some high viz as well.

Normal riding gear for me.

Reflective hat band, generally tabard but always reflective neck band yoke for the hoss. He`s a light grey, if he was dark I would have more stuff.

jod, boots and chaps, a top that can do one more wear before washing after work, hat. rarely wear fluro stuff unless dusk/dark or doing road work as nutters rounds my way

H = bridle, no noseband, saddle

I have days where I groom proper or not, always under skin clean and bridle. - do his tail only once a week though as it takes me 3 mins with a dog brush

Me - hat, boots, chaps, jods, reflective tabard and any old t-shirt/jumper/coat.
Shad - saddle, bridle, brushing boots and sometimes exercise sheet. I only usually brush where tack and boots go and hoof pick before I go out so a bit of a scruff really.

normal tack but with a cheltenham gag instead of snaffle or pelham. I wear jods or jeans with boots & 1/2 chaps

I always wear a tabard & hat band, linx always has 2 bridle pieces on & leg bands (really want some WW or legacy flourescent boots!). if wet he will wear his flourescent wrap around sheet to keep us both dry & sometimes i put a neck strap with 2 bridle pieces on to help hisfront end show up

Jeans, my Tuffa Suffolks (which double as wellies, so are covered in sh*t!) and whatever I happen to be wearing on my top half - usually a polo shirt!
Depending on who I'm wearing dictates what goes on their legs. Most wear nothing on their legs, but my 5yo wears boots and a fetlock ring behind as she moves close.

However I ALWAYS wear a hi-viz tabard as the bare minimum, whatever the weather. I've had too many near misses in summer as well as winter to be stupid enough to go without it.
