What do you call a hay fork?

Leicestershire, Northamptonshire Warwickshire,Two Tines Pitchfork, with rounded arch bale forks are square, their are some longer handled pichforks about that were used for threshing years ago. Four tines muck fork short or long handled, muck drags have for tines bent at 90 degrees, used on the canals for clearing out behind Lock gates these are called Kebs?

A gripe for a 4 prong fork, a pitchfork for 2. Although I have "heard tell of folk" spelling it 'graipe', which may explain the difference in spelling between the north west and the north east - we're in Cumbria.

West of Ireland the two pronged fork was a hay fork and the four prong one was called a pitch fork. Then there were shovels ..rounded blade and long straight blade was called a spade. Oh..also a lovely implement to cut peat with was called a slawn( phonetic sp. as can't spell it)

Confusing or what?

Southern Ireland a pitch fork or pyke for a two prong, three prong for a three prong (obviously:rolleyes:) and a sprong for the four pronged one used for mucking out or spronging dung.

A Pikel, Im from North Manchester. This made me laugh as I was recently talking to my friend who is from the South and she'd never heard of one calld this before.
