What do you classify as a "BIG" rider? (I have a complex now)

To the OP, you are SO NOT fat!! I think that person who made that remark had a case of the green eyed jealousies and felt the need to have a dig (everyone knows that women are sensitive about their weight so it's an easy target!).

If you are fat, then I must be absolutely mahoosive, lol! I'm 5'9", a size 16 and weigh 13 stone and my TB has no problem carrying me and my side saddle (which weighs a stone in itself) at the same time!

No one believes I weigh that much but I do despite clocking up 10 miles a day on my bike, riding/mucking out everyday and being on the go with my jobs. I have a problem with my white blood cells which makes me tried and hungry all the time so I have to eat healthy. My doctor told me last Friday after my last blood test, that I lead a healthy lifestyle and to keep doing what I am doing. Some people just aren't meant to be stick thin but that silly cow needs her eyesight checking if she thinks you are a "larger rider"!!!!

I've lost 3 stone because of the same reason I wish people would think before they would open there mouths!! I'm now a size 12/14 and 5'6 and ride a 16.2 and a 17.1 some people are cruel!! Forget about the silly woman!!

Oh how silly indeed, your not big at all, far from it!

Honestly, some people!

Take no blooming notice, what a silly woman.

Someone called me a big rider the other day, and said "you're carrying lots of weight", and proceeded to say she was relieved that my saddle was big enough for my bottom, because she finds it annoying when "big" riders squash themselves into small saddles... this was coming from someone who is about 5'3 and 18 stone, and doesn't ride at all. I was (and still am) massively offended, it really upset me.

I am female, 5'8, which is fairly tall, and about a size 14, with a medium sporty build. Definitely not a twig, but definitely not "big". My horse is 16'1, a Spanish horse, very muscley. We are in proportion.

I now have a serious complex, and it's been eating away at me. Firstly I think it was really rude of her to say this, secondly, she doesn't even ride, thirdly she is built like a brick sh**house herself.

Does my size make me a big overweight rider? What is the "right" size for a rider? Not everyone can be twiggy, and a size 6.

I'm sooooooo offended!!!! :(

If you are big, then she must be enormous. Perhaps it's something that she has been ridiculed about and therefore has an unnecessary hyper awareness of weight on other people. This has happened to me. Despite me being only 10kg overweight, I have someone who will cheerfully tell anyone who will listen that I am a massive rider who is cruelly squashing my delicate little pony. (A pony who is in reality an old fashioned Highland Pony of mainland type and 14.1hh.) But I have the wisdom not to comment. On the positive side, she did say that you were riding in the correct sized saddle. So yes she shouldn't have commented, but maybe she is hurting inside.

Just saw a photo of you and had to edit my post. You look normal and not big at all. Perhaps she is just doing what the silly cow who is criticising me is doing and trying to hurt your feelings.

OP I am exactly the same size as you, 5'8 size 12/14 weigh about 11 stone, never ever thought as myself as a 'big ' rider, absolutly ridiculous. One of my horses is just 16hh, yes an ID but dosent even notice me and Im on my mare 16.2hh for 4 hours plus when hunting, I think its a case of the green eyed monster, tell her to 'jog on'.
