We live on the border of two hunts so they are around quite often. I have to leave my boy in and shut his top door of his stable, because if he hears the hunt he runs at the door then runs round his stable and I'm afraid of him injuring himself. Turning him out when hunt is close is a definate NO!! but I feel really guilty locking him up, although I know its probably the safest way to deal with it. He gets turned out as soon as I get home from work. Feel really bad doing it, what do you do??

Personally I join them!

Have you tried a calmer? Or ear plugs?

My besties's mare is the same and when the hunt are around, she brings her mare to me as she gets so wound up she won't eat for a week after so I do understand its horrid :(

Leave them out. I tried to stable but it was no good (opposite to your horse C007).

They hunt across the land of the yard we're at. We keep in, but usually have chucked them out 1st thing then someone brings in at 11am, or chuck out later in the afternoon. They get excited when they hear the hunt but nothing reacts too badly.

all the horses from our yard are kept in.

A neighbour didn't keep hers in last year, cue an extremely stressed horse being herded towards the yard by two hunters after jumping out of it's field - managed to catch it, horse was in a bad state.

Mine are out. We get the local hunt passing by a lot and it causes me a lot more trouble if I meet them out riding but if pony is in his field he is settled. He tends to watch from the gate. One of mine (aged shetland - has a little trot about) but both are better out than in, they get more stressed in.

Out, as long as they have grass, they even ignore things like this....:o
