What do you do when you're horseless?

My own horse is off work on box rest for months so I have nothing to ride right now. I just let it be known that I'm up for taking on horse for backing etc. As a result, I've got a young Welsh Cob coming in a fortnight to back and get out competing, then try to sell for an aquaintance. Its almost better than having my own coz the owner pays for its keep and pays for me to compete it!

If I hadn't had the one above sorted - I would have gone out and bought a project for £500 to play with for the summer then sell. You could do that? You can find cheapo ones (usually native ponies).

Hope your horse gets better soon. :)

If all goes to plan I'm hopefully getting a project soon similar to your set up. My mum is all up for it as we don't have to pay much for him but we have to go around my dad to do it. :p Or hopefully get a job between now and Friday, that would be preferred.

I am temepted to go to horse sale coming up and get an unbroken gypsy cob to play with, however my buget is £150 and that includes diesel! You can get colured cobs for £50 to £100 around here. However a nicely broken in quiet all-rounder cob type is worth quite a bit more :)

Dig out old tack and give it a ruddy good clean... and regular visits to local riding school. Walk the dogs. Clean the house.

Surprising how much you can get done but I have to admit I will be pleased when we find another pony.
