Evening all =]

Was looking at my little one and wondering what I'll be able to do with her when she's grown!

So! Show me photos of your gypsy/traddy cobs or tell me what you do with them!

Mines a lazy bum :)
He's 4, so laid back and placid, he loves hacking and has a nice pop on him x
You can do pretty much anything with them because they are so willing to please.

Ah, my Hairy boy does picnic rides, pub rides, tea garden rides..likes to ride through the local small town and choose his own fruit and veg from the green grocers. He usually gives rides to children he meets in pub gardens (and their dads ). He once earned £100 for charity giving rides at a primary school fete.
Food and children are his main loves.
He also enjoys the odd party at local riding clubs and fun rides. He's gone on weekend trips climbing mountains and swimming in the sea. Happily jumps logs and ditches, eats hedges though. He has a 5th gear for galloping if needed.
He can be ridden in storms, snow, thunder and lightening on any road, anywhere. All the family ride him from babies to grannies to disabled riders. He will refuse to take out arrogant riders though - the ones who think he needs a boot to get him going because he's 'only' a plod. He plants himself and won't budge.
He is also rather gifted at farting.

We don't do anything too exciting...Just schooling, pootling on hacks, the occasional gymkhana and jump, he's semi-broken to drive (halted due to lack of time and his aversion to having things follow him) Hopefully going to get him to some shows next year.

Oh and we do a bit of this

:D

My little hairy is only a yearling at the mo - but he does the sitting down thing in the field and follows you around asking for a scratch.

Oh and has had my 4 year old daughter plonked on his back whilst loose and just turned round and looked ar her as if to say "Do you mind...."!

Loving the pics, looking forward to pub rides in the future!

Bits of this...

Oh I love everybody's piccies!!! Sorry the technology defeats me, but mine does happy hacking; he's also brilliant for people to learn stuff like putting rugs on/bandages etc coz he just loves all the attention and just stands there all soft and drooley.

Favourite treats: marmite sandwiches and gingernuts.

He also rubs his bum on the ground like the horse pictured above: hilarious or what?

Everyone thinks he's a plod; and he is - most of the time, until he gets some obnoxious type who thinks they can ride and then they'll very unceremoniously be dumped out the side door with a twisty bucky thing and off they'll come, then when he's achieved that he'll kick up his heels with a smile on his face and fart loudly!! Funny or wot. ;)

Get married on them

and finally my best friend who saved my life by nudging at my boob until the lump came to the surface - had he not, I don't think I would now be in remission and hopefully with years left ahead of me.

The gypsy cob - a true master jack of all trades, best friend and fun at all times.

Aw TheresaF your post just made me cry! So glad for you that you're now in remission.

Your horse also looks like what I think Puz will grow in to when she gets older!

This may help to give you an idea of how they grow.

and now a six year old and he is bum up and just outgrown another saddle - still has two - three years of growing and filling out to do as they take their time to mature.

Despite surgery, chemo etc I have managed to keep doing a bit of riding, the picture above is us at the BSPA WCC champs winning the traditional horse - he really has looked after me whilst I have very weak, piled on the weight and lost my sense of balance, hence why he is my horse of a lifetime.

Ye I think the younger photos of him look v similar...Here's Puzzle:

Gypsy cobs are just awesome. I would never have anything else now I think. What great characters they are, and they are just lovely people.

We have done sponsored rides, a one day event, jumping, dressage, polocrosse, Trec, hacking, put kids on him bareback for their first ever ride on a pony, a woman who is terrified of horses trusted him enough to come and stroke him...and most of all he is just my best friend.

Hunting, hunter trials, showing, dressage, beach/fun rides (we've stewarded on hunt fun rides and led the whole thing once when there were nearly 100 horses on the ride :D), showjumping, have done a little bit of Le Trec but there's not an awful lot around here, hacking... you name it, we'll have a go!
Hunting is his favourite activity, along with going to the beach. I'm hoping to break him to drive at some point but I need to save up and get a vehicle first :)
I can't post pics at the moment as I'm in work but here's are a few links:
