Hello Everyone,

Having just backed my Section D i have found myself pondering her future and would love to hear everybody else does with their Welshies?

Eventing? Endurance? Dressage? Show jumping? Happy Hacking? Showing?

Would love to hear your stories?

erm ... try stay on mine, she's a little monkey hee hee but will do a bit of everything with her once we can keep all 4 feet on the ground.

my last horsey was a sec d and she was an amazing jumper she had so much power, before i got her she had done bsja,i mainly did local shows in showing and jumping classes and also just lots of hacking, and schooling lessons. x

he he thats very funny Daisybe33 i will send you over some of mine's total laid backness (new word!) she is so chilled she's practically horizontal she's still a little bugger though he he

At the moment not alot...he was operated on for ruptured branch of the suspensory.

But usually showing, dressage, hacking, and some jumping (but not competitatively)

They are great characters and allrounders, wouldn't be without mine!

Hi there,
I broke my baby in Jan and he now goes hacking during the week, 1 schooling session and does in hand and ridden showing once a month. He has just started jumping and is very good so we will be off doing a few Un affiliated SJ comps over winter and maybe a play on the local x-country course.
He is also my 3 ty old nephews best mate and follows him around begging for carrots.... lol
Good luck with whatever you decide to do with yours and i hope you have lots of fun and laughter on the way.
Teresa

I hack and am concentrating on schooling atm as we are very good at running forwards with our head looking right but not actually turning! We also do some jumping and will hopefully do some local show jumping in a few years.

My friend does dressage and endurance with hers.

Thank you Tree, good luck to you too! She is only 3 so will bring her on very slowly, i would love to do some low level eventing with her, you know turn up on my little Section D and beat all the big posh warmbloods/tb's etc he he, a girl at my yard does it on a fjord its great to watch everybodies reactions!!!

We had a 14hh welsh D and he SJed BSJA round1.05m and won,he went round the Novice XC at Blackwater, did all PC activities, love gymkhana games and Alice would go out and make courses in the stubble fieldswhen the haybales were out! Totalsuperstar, but unsellable when she outgrew him.

You name it we do it!

She loves hacking, and we also school

She's done dressage... (very quickly but got a good mark)

I love her to bits (any excuse to post photos!!!!) and she's so versatile.

erm, everything! my old boy won rosettes in:
showing
show-jumping
one-day eventing
dressage - both affiliated and riding club/unaff - got to Med unaff and Elem aff, 81 BD points, 4th at the Area Festival Finals 2006
combined training
hunter trials
TREC
and we did lots of hacking and sponsored rides too

new one is supposed to follow in footsteps, but so far failing on the show-jumping front. he's a cracking hunter though so that's something better and he's not doing too bad at the dressage.

i think we all agree most of them are cracking allrounders allthough mine is 29 and has a bad knee (which means she can no longer be riden) she still has loads of chacacter and loves doing inhand at shows sadly though she had to finish showing this year as her knee had got worse alltough loves galloping round the field with the youngsters

sec d s are fantastic allrounders.mine did show jumping and xc ,one day events, hacking etc.dressage was not her thing but they are bright brilliant horses.

Mine does everyting, and has just started BSJA and BE, very bold XC, do get some funny looks at BE, especially as im 5'8 and hes just about 14.2. I (as in itll never get over that)- at keysoe, whilst i was waiting to go SJ, we had a couple down, but they were unceremoniously dumped into the 3/4th fence, i hate to say it, but it made me chuckle.

Mine is 6 and is hopefully going to start his affiliated dressage career this autumn. I'm hoping he'll get up to Medium level as has potential. We also do a little bit of everything else for fun although we aren't overly brave when it comes to fillers etc!

He is my first section D and I am completely sold on them

My Oh's does dressage, currently on about 270BD points and about to do their first adv.med.
Does do a bit of SJ and XC as well provided you are happy to do it from collected canter

Mine has rosettes (and quite a few firsts) in:

Showing, (WH, M&M and Sec D)
SJ
XC
Affiliated DR (and unaf)
Pleasure rides (long ones!)
TREC

and he also does beach rides too

They truly are a versatile breed

Mine started with showing at 3 then dressage, x-c & now sj - only been jumping a short while & clearing 3'9" + with ease. Love them & wouldn't be without mine !!
She's really laid back - finished sj round, dozed off (everyone thought she was soo tired !!) then went back in for jump-off & came second to a nippy little pony !! And she's 15.1 & CHUNKY.

He was National Single Pony, Carriage Driving Trials winner several times, hunts, hacks, used to jump 4 foot plus (Too old now, don't want to put too much pressure on his legs)

He's in his twenties now, and has no idea that he has sore feet, and tanking off at a gallop and refusing to stop will make his real mummy angry.

I have only recently sold my Sec D

Very sad day, really miss him as he was such a character. I had him from a 3yo - 8yo and did lots of M&M ridden showing and WHP, as well as RC SJ and ODE's. He did up to intermediate level no prob, struggled to jump higher as a course though because he had such a massive pop that it made it really hard to get the right distances in!!

Lovely pic juno. Done a bit of everything with my boy when he was a young man, he jumped anything I pointed him at, got placed at ODE's, showjumping, we'd do pleasure rides and won at ridden M&M locally and made the top 5 at Ashby Show the only time I went there. We dont compete at the moment but at 19 he's jumping better than ever and on the flat he can do all the lateral stuff properly and has got to grips with changes. The thing I love about him, and all welshies, is their desire to please and trainability, they're just soooo clever. Im haven't a clue what Im doing half the time but he works it out for me, love him to bits.

Too clever sometimes!!! Mine knows just how to expend minimum energy to get to the next field!
