What do you do your Mini's?

Don't have mine anymore, as sadly outgrown, so they're in lovely loan homes bringing much joy to other small children.

When they were with us, they did everything our current ponies do, but on a smaller scale. They were hacked out, schooled, played with, shown ridden and inhand, did dressage, jumping and even side saddle. Don't have pictures here as on my work computer and Photobucket is banned. Will try to remember to post later.

Here we go:

And child's best friend :)

33/34 inches, so max height for minis.

The grey is mother to the other two - I bought her with the bay as a 6 month foal at foot - and a surprise spotty bonus arrived 8 months later :)

They gave my daughter the most amazing start to her life as a pony lover / rider. She's now 9 and rides a Welsh C (she has her daddy's long legs!) so the minis have moved on to other homes. I get regular updates via FB and it's fabulous to see them doing the same fantastic job for other little kids :D

Only an inch or two bigger than mine then! How old was she when she grew out of them? How lovely to have had them and still see them teaching other small peeps to ride. Ours will need to do the same, he is too good to stand in a field when she out grows him (hopefully not for a while!)

They're fantastic ponies, I feel blessed to have had them in our family for a few years.

FfionWinnie - Cerys moved up to a standard Shetland when she was 6. However we had lightweight older kids riding the minis before then - up to about 11! They're part Shetland and very strong wee beasties! The little girl who has Bridget (the grey) is a tiny 5 or possibly 6 and her legs still barely reach the bottom of the saddle, so she hopefully has years to go yet. And the little girl who has Meggie learned to do hands-free up-downs while she was 2 and also canters her on the lead - she's an amazing little jockey.

They're just brilliant fun little ponies! I really miss them, but they had too much to offer to other little ones to leave them standing in the field, not to mention the worry of laminitis if they're not being properly exercised.

Iv'e taken my two to the odd show, we walk them around the village like dogs, they paddle in the ford, or almost swim depending how deep it is, they graze in the garden sometimes, have a gallop around in the manege now and then but they are both only two so there's not much else they can do just now except look pretty!

She's gone all spotty now

Beautiful!

Well I thought it was about time I put some pics of my gruesome twosome up! So here goes, sorry they are boring and looking a bit bedraggled, Cumbria is back to its rainy self this morning after a lovely few days of sunshine.

Currently awaiting vet this morning to have a look at Bella (coloured) who has an abcess for near fore, and to check on Lulu who was lame on Sunday but seems to have recovered after course of antibiotics. If you have read my other thread you will know the story but I'm planning on sectioning off part of field today as they are both footy, combined with the lameness on Sunday and the abscess yesterday I am worried they are getting too much grass...I will be picking the vets brains about this so will update later :)

Heres Bella sporting her new 'Matt-free' coat thanks to a lot of elbow grease and even more patience from moi

Lulu looking a bit bedraggled as I haven't managed to get all of her matts out yet. I never seem to get a good shot of her, she's not one for posing...unlike Bella :D

Gorgeous :D
