What do you do?

I love my happy hacking! especially this time of year with the lighter evening, after a long day, it's so nice to get some peace and quiet and and go for a ride. I'm lucky where I have my horse at livery, there's also an outdoor school so we also do a little schooling every now and again. In-hand showing is another thing I look forward to in the summer. I have a 20 year old pure arab who I have shown at county level, but we now just concentrate on more local shows. Our local show guide is now available, I'm so excited!!!

I've done quite a bit of unaffiliated dressage with my now 21 year old, but he's now taking life a bit easier, so we do more hacking now, although I#ll do some riding club veteran classes over summer with him. I want to do dressage with my mare, but she has only just started roadwork and hasn't done much schooling, but I'm hoping she'll be suitable for it if I can get her sound enough!

I am loving my happy hacking now too, on my big baby thats just backed. Here, in Ireland, people expect 4 yr olds to have a bit of everything done, so I'm doing against the grain here. I intend to do a bit of lower level everything on him, but as he's just backed, I'm taking it slow. Maybe, by 6, he'll have a bit of everything done, but for now, happy hacking it is!!! Show jumping is my first love though, just a bit chicken at the mo, and dont have a horse readt to do it!!!!

we jump but I'm trying to get into dressage now that he's getting on a bit. I'd like to try jump-x and showing this season too

we jump because he enjoys it - put jerry in front of a fence and he really pops.

I'm just curious really, it's quite interesting to know what everyone does! I'v had a bit of a break but hoping to get back into dressage. I love xc but for some reason hate sj! Otherwise I'd love to event! Played polo too and really enjoyed but so expensive to play reguarly!

In my younger days i did mainly show jumping and cross country. However following a very bad accident xc in 2003 :( i turned my hand to breeding and producing youngsters for a couple of years. Was given two very good rides a few years ago which were both fab WH horses so have switched to showing now and love it. Currently not competing as got two young children and a young mare i am just breaking in.. back to it for 2012 though whe she turns 4! :D

Dressage all the way. I don't jump, ever! :D
I used to in the riding school but I never enjoyed it. When I got my first one at 15 she was only 4 so I got into dressage that way and I love it :D

With one of mine I do (all unaffiliated) -SJ
XC
Dressage
ODE's
My mums pony who i also ride we do (again unaffiliated) - SJ
Dressage
Hopefully will get her to a small ODE this summer.

I am hoping to get my young one into SJ, XC, Dressage and ODE's but he is 4 next month and we have just started trotting (backing him myself) but I am aiming for a dressage test near the end of summer.

My 2 Arabs & I would probably class ourselves as all-rounders.

i do a lot of NH/classical work with them, especially in-hand and with the same instructor we have flatwork/dressage lessons too.
our hacking is brilliant, so i love spending time just chilling in the countryside, especially going for a great canter :)
we do sponsored rides and this year i'm looking to do some lower level endurance rides too.
we've done trec too, which is a lot of fun.
i'm not the worlds biggest fan of jumping but we do pop some jumps for fun as well :)

basically, i just try to enjoy all our time together and continue to learn together with my guy and girl :D

Very happy hacker.

When I was a child I dreamed of riding in the countryside on my horse. I never had the opportunity to even as much as sit on a horse until my late 40's. Now I am realising my dream. We plod (and sometimes not so ploddy) the highways and byeways of our area. We go miles, over all sorts of terrain, past all sorts of "hazards". Mostly alone, sometimes in company.
For me the ideal is really really early in the morning just as the sun is rising. Just me and my beastie out together exploring.
We have done a few pleasure rides. Not having any transport limits what we can do.
I do like riding in the paddock as well. On a good day I get all posh and call it schooling....

One day I would like to take my girl to a breed show. She did well in her showing career in her previous home. Not sure I have the oomph to run alongside her for the inhand classes though.

We have just moved to a new area and I have use of a manege if I want it. Not taken them up on their offer as yet. It's a 1.5 mile hack to reach it. Maybe soon.

A bit of Show Jumping, Dressage and Hunting but mostly hacking. :)

Me and my boy go out for hours, exploring different bridle ways and I'm never happier than I am riding him around the lanes and finding random logs in fields to jump! ;) We do love our hunting though and try to go as often as possible in the winter. :)
