What do YOU expect from a soft toy?

I gave up buying soft toys ages ago, Millie didnt so much shread them, but would pick one area of stitching, carfully unpick it and then 'de-stuff' said toy, spreading the contents around my house! I certainly wouldnt dream of taking it back!

The worst thing was those rubbery pig things that oink when they're squeezed, Millie would carry this horrible inside out pig thing around with her for ages after she'd removed the 'oinker'!

So...the general consensus is that a soft toy isn't necessarily *expected* to to not be ripped up by some dogs. Some dogs will love them and keep them for a while, but those that Do have destructive dogs either accept it or not buy soft toys. But you don't expect the retailer to refund/replace a torn toy?! I was beginning to wonder if I was just being a tight-o by not replacing it. ;)

I remember when my dog decided the best thing to do was raid my sisters room and choose a toy with those little beads as stuffing.
~~ten minutes later , cue thousands of little beads EVERYWHERE.

She likes to play with socks now , but if we buy her a toy , its generally a robust one as she destroys them but they are quite expensive if i remember correctly? x

MEAN MAMMY ALERT
I don't have nor see the need for soft toys:p I would not expect them to last more than 5 mins with a dog that just sees them as a destructible item (which is what they are) they are not exactly stimulating, so to me (useless):D kongs and the likes of (fine).
I have one teddy in the house (Alfred) a shaggy dog (bout the size of a cavalier) and he is used as a companion for lone puppies until they are old enough to do without a teddy bear sibling:D
If some dogs use them as comfort and did not destroy them (fair do's) those that do destroy, I see no point in replacing.
So....after that "scrooge like rant" I expect them to last longer than 5 mins, no matter the price:p

What? Someone should tell MY dogs they aren't stimulating! They get highly stimulated by the tugging and ripping, removing all the fluff out of them, spreading the fluff around the house, throwing the squeaker about, and then playing tug of war with what's left! LOL

I have all the harder toys to destroy, the food type puzzles too. The harder toys they just lose interest in pretty quick and the food puzzles they have been known to fight over.

how long do you expect it to last?
At least 2 weeks Biscuit destroyed a kong wubba in 2 hours, I was not impressed
Would the price you pay for it have any bearing on how you re-act?
Up to £10
If you paid say, £3 for a soft toy (new) do you expect it to last as long as a soft toy that costs £10?
Yes, If I pay 25p for a teddy from a charity shop I expect that it will break quicker than a kong

The only toy that he hasn't destroyed (had it 3 weeks now) is this He loves it, It looks like a baby toy but is brill, the website does 'stuffing-free' teddys as well

Dosent really matter how much I spend on them they only last 5 minutes, but the extra tuff seargent things did last about 3 hrs and they were expensive!

Sorry, I am a mean owner too! Stuffed toys would last minutes with any of mine and the favourite toys are flower pots and deflated (by my GSD) footballs - they all last quite some time.

Of course that is 'normal' dogs. Fox Hound pups like anything they can steal from the house - this can range from welly boots, slippers, saucepans, newspapers, coats and books. Their favourite is the rotary washing line - impossible to dry outside whilst they are around!

I expect them to be destroyed and probably eaten in seconds - therefore he doesn't get any! He is only allow his Goughnut, the only toy that has survived (for a year now!).

Soft toys certainly don't last very long in my house - but I still give them to my monsters. They just look like they're having soooo much fun making a mess that I can't stand to take that joy away from them!? :p
