what do you feed your dogs?

Boston Terrier either cooked fresh food by me (chicken, squash, kale, oil pill) or shop-bought holistic food (turkey, broccoli, yam, zucchini, vitamin, elderberry, flax). She is a gannet and has nearly choked on kibble more times than I care to remember, hence the soft food. To keep her teeth in shape, I give her beef bones. She always gets compliments on her shiny coat

All ours are on poultry based dry complete foods- our big dog has a very delicate tummy hence we keep them all on chicken type foods.

The JRT puppy is on Purina small breed puppy food, the Mastiff cross and the medium sized dog both have whatever large breed complete dry food is on offer at the time.... eukanuba, purina, few different types. We have never had any problems swapping between foods bag by bag, probably because they are all so similar.

Interesting the comments re Bakers; we have used Chicken Bakers before, and also a sensitive Turkey version they do- the dog with the very delicate tummy coped fine with them HOWEVER they do have some rather 'weird and wonderful' flavours... OH bought some smokey bacon and liver flavour accidently, one bowl ripped though poor Big dog, poor thing was very poorly indeed with blood stained diahorrea (sp). Took us and the vet a fortnight to get him right again

If you google bakers complete review - you can read some reviews on it.... which is what I did.

My mum's BC is on it mixed with pedigree chum and she has developed a wierd skin condition - vets can't work out what it is - so we wondered if it might be diet related. Which is why i googled Bakers in the first place.

Also read some interesting comments about it on a dog forum I go to. So is interesting to read that has caused a few probs for people here too...

I make my mum supply JWB food when her dog comes to stay here when they are away on holiday. Their dog is normally on Baker's and absolutely stinks when she is on it. When she is on JWB she is much more fragrant

We have a flatcoat & a boxer which we fed the raw meaty bone diet, worked a treat however, following one of our dogs having cushings disease we pted for prize choice which is a natural diet only very expensive.

Only found out today Flatcoat has to go in for an op next week to have a lump removed from his leg, fingers crossed it isn't cancerous as they cannot guarantee 100% removal

Cocker spaniel and a collie 7 and 6 years. Both have ad lib tesco complete dry dog food (exactly the same as Bakers but in their own packaging so cheaper).

Is it really the same stuff? That will save me some money!

Mix of breeds, Lab, Dobe, Vizslak and a tiny crossbreed. My dogs are all fed on plain wholemeal biscuit with fresh green tripe, twice daily. Even little Teddy, who belonged to my late aunt, who fed him cooked meats from Morrisons and sausages cooked by herself,

because "he won't eat anything else", tucks into his tripe with great gusto!!!

My dogs have about half dog food and half chicken/pasta/rice/whatever we're having. The lab and the yorkie have bakers weight control and it is absolutely fantastic. People always comment on how well the lab looks and say how nice it is to see a not overweight lab. The yorkie never used to eat dog food and he had a phobia of his food bowl (abused as a puppy) but since we got more dogs he eats every scrap at great speed

The foxhound has whatever is the cheapest food we can find, usually elm farm's own brand dog food. They all have pigs ears and dental sticks every now and again, and they share the milk from my cereal every morning.
