What do you feed your ex racer and why?

My ex-racer is in light-medium work at the moment and medium work in the summer.

He's 16.1 rising 7.

He gets a heaped stubbs scoop of Hifi original, half a scoop of D&H fibre nuts, splash of veg oil and a mini scoop of Ponk Powder twice per day.
He grazes in the field during the day and has hay at night in his stable (just a normal sized haynets worth and theres always some left in the morning).

In the summer it stays similar but he has hifi light and less fibre nuts, he's out 24/7 apart from when its really hot when he comes in during the day.

TBH he doesn't really need a lot of food. He looks a picture on what he is on and if anything I have to be careful he doesnt get too fat, especially in the summer. he has really good muscle tone and he always have plenty of energy. Its pretty consistent energy though.

I love D&H fibre nuts, they are simple, no fuss, high in fibre and do a good job. The hifi is just another form of fibre as sometimes I worry he doesnt eat enough hay. The supermarket oil keeps his coat nice and adds a few calories and the pink powder keeps his vits and mins topped up as he doesnt get the full ration of fibre nuts and it keeps his tummy settled.

When I visited Moorcroft racehorse rehoming I asked what they fed and all their chargers are on fibre nuts as you can feed lots to keep their weight on and it doesnt send them bonkers lol.

Now my TB is fully grown he really is quite a good doer. He went through a ribby/leggy phase when he had just turned 5 but I think that was a growing spurt.

I'll probably get shot down for this (as their seems to be a lot of Mollichop haters in the world!) but with a stubbs scoop he's on just under 2 x Mollichop Conditions a day with half Pegasus fibre nuts/mix (i buy the Pegasus mix and nuts and then put then together in the bin) this is then split into 2 feeds and he has magnesium and brewers yeast and sunflower oil added.

he was on Dengie alfa a but having used it for years (for this and previous horses) it seemed to be getting drier, dustier and flakier and then about 3 months ago the Ponio decided he was no longer going to eat it (i had to put apple juice on it to get him to rid of the half a bin i had left!)

He's then on 2 Huge haynets of good quality haylage a day (its more like adlib as he very rarely finishes it all)

Oh He's 16.3 Irish TB (quite stocky) in light/medium work
