What do you feed your fatties?

absolutely as little as possible.

2 x greedy so have a handful - literally what I can pick out of the bag in my hand of top chop zero to wet with mineral / power balancer
1 x fussy - has an egg cup full of grass nuts with a splash of water to mix the powder in with. He occasionally turns his nose up at in and I'll add genuinely 4-5 pony nuts just to get it eaten.

Feeding fat horses just seems like burning money to me.

the fussy one refuses to eat top chop zero - so he has a large tub of it in his stable and a tiny bit of haylage - if he chooses to be in for 5-6 hours and not eat any of the top chop - that is his choice. He has access to quality forage and makes a decision not to eat it (same with me and rice cakes!)
 
Mine is holding her weight really good since she started living out 24/7. She is the best weight she has ever been. she gets speedi beet for her gut and scoop of mix and handful of light balancer . She also gets a joint supplement.
 
Two cups of Bailey's LoCal balancer.
A handful of Bailey's fibre nuggets as a treat.
He also has a salt block in the stable.

He lives out on the paddocks that other horses have eaten down first and also does an hour or so 'gardening' round the yard tidying up the weeds.

A handful or scoop of a low cal chaff once or twice a day to get necessary supplements in and a balancer to counter the deficit restricted grazing/a hay only diet can cause isn't going to keep a horse fat.

I agree though, that it doesn't need to be a complicated affair. Find a low cal chaff they'll eat and you're golden.
