What do you feed your horse?

15.3/16hh welsh x appaloosa, weighs around 520kg in the summer! He is at grass 24/7, supplemented with a large slice of the big heston hay bales (couldn't tell you what that weighs!), a scoop of hifi original and his benevit advanced. Over the winter he is prone to weightloss and because of this I up to adlib hay, and usually add cool mix to his feed during really cold/wet spells.

Two horses..

17hh 17yo IDxTB gelding, always been a very good doer but less so this year. Assume it's because he's getting older! He gets 1/2 to 3/4 scoop of Safe & Sound with linseed meal, magox, brewer's yeast, seaweed and a joint supplement (Joint FX). Fed once a day. Out at night on plenty of grass, though it's the stalky variety rather than v lush. In during the day from about 9am to 7pm with a net of hay at lunchtime. He works 3-5 days per week, mainly hacking with a bit of light schooling and the odd fun ride. All being well he'll hunt a couple of short days this season. In winter he'll be on adlib hay, staying on overnight TO, and I'll add Speedibeet to his hard feed.

15hh 6yo connie/cob type. I think he'll be a good doer but currently still growing and filling out. He gets a handful of S&S with a scoop of magox. Same routine as the big horse but his lunch time hay net is much smaller! Worked 5 days per week - schooling, hacking, jumping, lunging/long reining, in hand work....

16hh 19yo QHxTB, in light/medium amount of work and looking 'well' (wouldn't want her to gain any weight, but wouldn't be unhappy if she goes into winter looking like this).

At the moment she's getting half scoop chaff, quarter scoop D&H pasture mix, recommended (for her size) amount of Baileys Lo-Cal and Riaflex (joint supplement). The past few days they've been coming in at night as fields are still poached from last weeks rain, in which case that's split into two for brekkie and dinner, else when she's out 24/7 she gets it as one feed. If she's in her stable she also gets adlib hay.

17HH Trakenher, med work, very very slightly over weight but just gone out onto new grass so to be expeceted

This twice a day:
Half stubbs scoop alfra a oil
Half small scoop fast fibre
Cup of baileys stud balancer
Magnesuim
Naf Superflex

1 wedge of horsehage about 7am, 10am-5/6pm turnout then about 3 wedges of soaked hay fed from the floor at night. :D

My 4 (16.3 TB ex-racehorse, 15.1 TB/Arab/Connemara, 2 14.2 Arabs, 1 4 year old, 1 25) are all out at grass, the 15.1 in a grazing muzzle, because she's the fattest, although none of them could be described as being slim.....

When they come in, they each have a handful of Happy Hoof as a reward for being caught and they each have a Horslyx (mobility, respiratory or original, depending on the individual) and a salt lick in their stable. If they are going to be in for any length of time, I'll give them a small haynet. They all hack/school/do dressage competitions and have more than enough energy for me....

13.3 sec D, schools and hacks out up to an hour. Weighs around 347kg...

14.3 sec D, not hacked her yet but she goes in the school and lunges a few times a week. Not sure on weight need to re-measure but 385kg when last taped.

Both get fed 2 handfuls of Hi-Fi Lite and 2 cups of Baileys lo cal balancer. Meg (13.3) gets 25ml Devils Relief and Nesta has 20ml.

I have a retired Fell, 14.2hh and a very good doer, and Welsh B show pony also a very good doer. At the moment they are out at grass on restricted/strip grazing with a 30ml supp scoop (dry weight) Fast Fibre and a small handful of Hi Fi Lite so that they get their magnesium and Mel gets her mobile mover.
Once the shelter and ground (they are currently on a different field) has dried up, little one will be in during the day with soaked hay and big girl will be in a turnout pen with the same, then out on grass at night.

5 year old TB - currently living out 24/7.

Half a scoop of Alfa-A
Quarter of a scoop of fibre nuts

:)

He costs me £19.60 every 5 months in feed so I cant really complain :p
