What do you feed your natives

my good doer new forest has grass, he also has hay in the field if there is snow (about 3 slices a day, eg two bales of hay split between 8 ponies). he lives out and has a chaser clip and wears a rug.

I vary what additional feed I give him depending on the weather and how much work he is doing and how fat he is. At the moment he is having half a scoop of dengie good doer chaff and a handful of slim and healthy mix a day along with his breathing supplement. He also has a few pony nuts as treats.

He also has hay if he is travelling to a show, or if he comes in for a bit before being ridden.

My fell and connie get top spec balancer lite for vits and mins and a handful of top chop lite to make that last. The fell also gets carrots in her feed. The connie's a mischevious rogue so he gets his carrots in a ball thing.

Other than that they just get grass and minimal hay!

Mine just get good doer and a bit of warm speedi beet although they only have one bags worth over the course of the winter. They always have access to a rockies salt lick.

HOWEVER as of 2 days ago they are just having hay and grass (they live out) as the bu@@ers broke into the feed bins and ate half a bag of good doer between them!!! Toffee is getting her supplement in some speedibeat from a feed scoop when tied up and that is now all the fat ponys are having (until I give in and buy more good doer!)

My Welsh D is out during the day on strip grazed grass and in at night on 1 third of a bale of hay that is year old stuff and soaked. He then has two handfuls of chaff to put his benevit supplement into. Nothing else, no treats or anything I am afraid.
