Hello all,

Curious to know what you feed your horse what kind of horse you have and what work it does?

thanks in advance x

not a lot

A little hi fi lite, and a couple of handfuls of high fibre cubes, get vit supp too

Not much grass so he gets a couple of slabs of hay a day too

7yr WB in light work ie 4 or 5 hours schooling a week and 1 or 2 hacks

6yr old WB, worked 6-7days aweek, schooling (may lunge once a week), hacking and 1flat and 1 jump lesson aweek, out on grass 24/7 in summer, he gets small handful of spillers horse & pony cubes, (and it is a small handful as hes a loon) and small handful of chaff, electrolytes, joint sup, linseed, and calmer.

Haylage, haylage and more haylage :D Mines a 4yr ISH who needs to lose some weight, she doesnt really need anything other than forage atm. Shes hacked twice a week and schooled twice, so not alot of work.

currently mine is on Bailey's No 9 and Applechaff he gets a small scoop of mix and a large round scoop of chaff both am and pm, small spoon of garlic granules carrots and apples.

He is on this feed as it was what he was being fed with his owner over in Ireland and wanted to make sure he doesn't get an upset tummy, but will be looking at changing to high fibre cubes.

He has 2/3sections of hay - dampened as he eats it dampened rather than dry, not as he needs it wet for any reason.

Has lots of grass out in his paddock too.

Mine gets tiny amounts of these:

Stud balancer - same ingredients as lo-cal balancer and cheaper ;)
High fibre cubes
Alfa-A
Speedi-beet (only a bit to disguise the taste of his medicine :p )

And then biotin, garlic and a joint supplement :)

4 year old TB :)

He does really well off his feeds but I'm constantly being told I don't feed him enough  which does my head in!

once aday he gets

1/4 scp cheapest mix
sprinkleing of hi-fibre nuts
handful hi-fi original
1/4 scp bran
scoop garlic
sprinkle turmeric and salt
a carrot
2 polos for dessert ( :p )
a decent amount of grass

he is a 15.3hh irish 57 heinz variety (lightweight cob) vorking 6 days a week either hacking for 1+ hour, schooling 40 mins or lunging 25 mins. he is a little tubby but not massive!

nothing at the moment, shes a nice weight and has plenty energy for workload. Out 24/7 for summer.
10 yr old dwb/ish. Ridden prob 5 times a week, 3x school, 1x jump and a hack.
Shes new so not sure about the winter but she seems a good doet so prob not alot apart from haylege.

2 cups Equilibra
4 cups Tigar Oats x 2 a day
Garlic and Mint
Aloe Vera Juice 50 mls x 2 a day
Flaxoil 3 times a week
He is ridden 6 days a week
Hacking 1 1/2 hrs or schooling 1 hr

5 year old TB in light work gets 1 scoop alpha a oil, 2 scoops readymash extra and ¼ scoop sumo MB twice a day as she needs to gain weight. She also gets biotin, fenugreek and linseed supplements.
10 year old cob gets a tiny handful alpha a oil, tiny handful instant energy mix and lo cal twice a day. He also gets salt and linseed supplements. He is ridden 4-5 days a week.

16.1hh 10 year old DWB Mare.
Worked 4-5 times a week although not worked paticularly hard.
A hanful of Hifi lite, Garlic, Magnitude.
Well soaked hay for when she is stood in for the day (She is out at night).
She is a fat as a pie, loosing weight gradually mind!

My yearling colt is out at grass so, nothing!
3yo appy gelding gets 1cup build & glow, half a scoop of ride & relax and a handful of graze on. He also gets a glug of sunflower oil.
He's currently being backed and lives out so only gets this when he comes in to do some work :)
Fat pony gets half a saracen cup of Saracen Shape up, she also lives out on a bald paddock. She is schooled/jumped 3 times a week and lightly hacks inbetween.
Retired ex racer/ex eventer/ex broodie is recovering from a broken splint bone and has gained a large amount of weight whilst on box rest, so she just gets a handful of old faithfuls special blend with her devils claw supp in it :)
