Just wondering as there are so many kinds of riders, horses and feeds what everyone does and feeds. So:
1. What do you do riding? (eg. SJ, D, Eventing, Showing, Happy hacking, PC/RC etc.)
2. What do you feed?
3. Do you feed something special on competition days? (if you compete)

I have a 16.3hh tb who does a bit of everything and is in work 6 days a week. He gets saracen enduro 100,barley and alfa twice a day,a large haylage net overnight with a big bucket of good doer and dried grass to up his fibre intake. I tend to give three meals a day on the day before,on the day and day after a competition as he can run up really light and has been known to loose four holes on his girth during the day.

Hattie
Hunting in the winter, hunter trials, ODEs etc in the summer.

Winter feed (will be increasesd if required)
1 scoop Alfa A oil, 1 scoop pony nuts, twice a day
And ab lib hay

Summer feed
1 scoop pony nuts, twice a day

Gypsy
Hacking, showing, dressage, little sj/xc

Winter feed
1 1/2 cups Lo Cal Balancer, twice a day
ab lib Hay

Summer feed
3/4 cup Lo Cal Balancer, twice a day

Hattie and Gypsy live out 24/7.

Inka
Odd bit of hunting, dressage, sj. Baby things.
Nothing at the moment. May start feeding Lo Cal if needed.
Ab lib haylage

In work 7 days a week at the moment.

2. 15.2hh 550kg TB gets one scoop of Dodson & Horrell Staypower Cubes, 1 scoop Molichop Showshine chaff and 1/2 a scoop sugar beet twice daily. Turned out during the day although not much grass out there at the moment, 5 sections (20 lbs) of hay at night.

3. Nope, dont feed any differently on a competition day, I just might feed less in the morning if I have earlyish times

I have several horses but they are all fed a fibre diet, even the ones eventing. At this time of year, grass, haylage and fibre based bucket feed (fibergy/alfalfa/unmollassed sugar beet/fibre nuts) for those that need it. Mineral block for the ponies.

Salt everyday and electrolytes just before and after a competition.

14.3hh 17 yo connie X, does a bit of everything gets
1/2 scoop Apple Chaff
1/4 scoop bran

15hh cob x wb, eventing at the moment and getting 1 stubbs scoop competition mix, alfalfa and speedibeet twice a day. Have just started on a probiotic ready for our 3 day next week as I'm anticipating lots of splatty poos!

She gets ad lib hay overnight, and no change on competition days.

In the winter we'll go back to dressage, then the comp mix will change to a normal cool mix.

I have a 16.3 TB Shire x who does a bit of everything at a local level, he is ridden 5-6 times a week and is definatly a good doer!

He goes out all day, and has 12kg of hay at night and 2 feeds a day which are 1 scoop hi-fi lite, 1 mug of lo-cal and his joint supplement.

1. What do you do riding?

20year old riding/show hunter pony, puts weight on in the summer and looses it quickly in the winter, fairly unfit at the moment but building up fitness.
Gets a handful of happy hoof and a handful of winergy combined feed, top spec senior and garlic granuals and from today a handful of speedibeet soaked.
I don't compete with him at the moment.

22 yr old sec D
1 and half scoops happy hoof,
scoop lo-cal,
200g Coolstance
4/5 seams steamed hay
joint supp, breathing supp & formula 4 feet

9year old very good do-er on a diet
scoop happy hoof
small scoop horse & pony nuts
redcell
naf slimline
small hay net!!

Both happy hackers, with a view to competing 9 yr old next year (maybe!)

We do dressage, hacking and showing. I feed sugar beet, graze-on, and cheapie pony nuts to a welsh D. Nothing special on comp days.

Well very little at the moment!! I have:
2 foals, one welsh x, one warmblood x, both good doers and out 24/7 so on small amount of suregrow, chaff, tiny bit of beet and vit and min supplement to top up.
1 mare (mum to one foal) still trying to loose baby weight!! out 24/7 has a handful of cool cubes and vit and min supplement!

Once winter hits I'll increase the foals feeds accordingly but stay on the suregrow and ab lib hay. And increase the mares cool cubes with some chaff, but as her work level increases I may move over to the working mix but we'll see as with the winter months my riding maybe limited.

Overweight 14.3hh Welsh Cob, currently out for 8 hours a day on natural pasture. Has two sections of hay overnight and 150g Happy Hoof with NAF Slimline, he's hacked the times a week and schooled twice.

19 year old 13.2hh Arab x Welsh hacked twice a week and schooled once, has had laminitis in the past. Turned out as above but wears a muzzle. Fed two/three sections of hay overnight and 150g Happy Hoof and a mug of Baileys Lo-cal.

This is what I'm feeding currently, it will change when mine go out overnight for the winter at the end of this month and the weight starts dropping off my 13.2hh.

Well I ride/compete/teach but not on my two as they are too young. But currently classical dressage and showing (probably wont jump again as i think im too chicken these days)
Howie- 17 month NF colt- 1/4 Scoop o D&H's Safe and sound; and a cup of Baileys Lo-Cal Feed balancer plus grass 24/7

Merlin- 18 month Appy x Traditional Cob 1/3 Scoop of D&H's Safe and Sound; and a cup of Baileys Lo-Cal Feed balancer plus out to grass 24/7 (he get slightly more as hes bigger)

2 feeds a day. Each feed:-
1 scoop Naked Oats (less on days off)
1 scoop Alfa-A Oil
Dengie Performance supplement.

Ad-lib haylage and out at grass all day.
