Horse was kicked last week by someone wearing a red ribbon and yet seemed to think it was a license for other people to be made to get out of his way not for him to actually be careful. Really annoyed me as horse has big hock and cannot be hunted for at least a week.

Also while on my ranting mood the number of blinking kids that use my horses arse to stop out hunting. One day they will get booted and it is not the horses fault.

i got kicked last saterday by a kid on a horse that didnt even have a ribbon in his tail- yeah, that annoyed me. and people who dont pass important messages back. and people who cut you up and ram up your arse. and people who cut you up infront of a fence, then stop at the fence, causing major pile up.

Ernie hasn't been hunting since 4th Nov because he had a sore on his back and then the abcess but from cubbing until then he was kicked 5 times, once really badly. If you know your horse kicks keep it well out of the way of others. There's one horse Ernie hates and that horse hates Ernie too (score so far 2-1 to the other horse!) so we keep well out of each others way!

Also people who amble through gate ways annoys me, I like to get on with it. And people who are muppets around gates, I've seen several near accidents with the pins on gates.

People who's horses refuse at a fence, but they continue to keep attempting it infront of other poeple who haven't yet tried, cutting the ground up and causing those of us with a horse that jumps to get left behind. Often they then continue to do this at every fence. If your horse stops or you know s/he often stops, please go to the end of the queue.

that happened with us today. There was a very narrow gate that lead straight onto a small stream. A mans horse wouldnt go through the gate as it saw the stream, but kept trying for about 2 minutes (right infront of me!) untill his horses leg got caught in the gate and ripped it off its hinges (que me having to jump off and try to fix it with bailer twine while he buggered off somewhere  )!

When people gallop past you despite the fact that your horse is wearing a green ribbon, and you have informed them it is your horses first time out. I find it really rude, I don't mind if their having brake failure, but so many just obv arent and seem to think whole point of hunting is galloping their horses into the ground, and winding your baby up to fever pitch in the process! Grr!

Ponyclubbers in general p*ss me off, I thought they got taught hunting code of conduct by ponyclub. Newcomers/visitors that cut people up on a fence/ bring horses out that kick/bite and expect for you to know this and avoid them. Loud children at the front of a field screaching.

People who can't ride - there were a lot of them out with us, just barging around all over the place, no control, no sense and just a bloody pain.

Ooh where to start

Car followers or indeed any follower who bimbles along oblivious to the regular non-hunt traffic behind them.

Followers who think paying their subscription excuses them from jump building duties!

Car followers who park without thought for any other road user or hunt follower.

Car followers who harass horses and hounds.

Car followers who pull out without checking mirrors and come close to taking me out when I was on the road first...I ride a bike...

People who don't volunteer with any other hunting related activity

People who complain we are unfriendly, yet make no effort to come to social events and get to know us!

Mounted followers who don't thank me when I hold the gate open, close the gate or perform some other service for them, or make no effort to make it through quickly, seemingly forgetting that I am hunting too :(

People who only come out to be 'seen'

People who think hunt jumps magically rebuild themselves

People who leave their engines running at covert side.

Think that is enough pent up frustration released now!

people that cut you up when your going into a fence.. but saying bout the red ribbin thing.. my pony has one when out hunting.. and when you go for a long gallop, and then stop and get caught in the middle of the field.. it can be sometime hard to get out of the way.. and it also it sometimes hard when people just ram their horses heads in my ponys backend.. and one more think.. sometimes it is hard to hold wombat back.. from just going into through a gate when you have a load of horses running through and you, having to hold your one back.. and shes bucking and going mad coz she wants to follow... it can be hard! but thats why i dont hunt wombat anymore.

I absolutely hate when people cut you up before a jump! And I hate when absolute novices come out! They just barge into you without even apologising, and have absolutely no control over their horse/pony!

As far as I'm concerned I hate it when you have people out who have no manners full stop...
dont keep in a single file in crop fields or the like
dont thank motorist for giving way to them
dont know the first thing about hunting and think they dont need to
dont keep quiet and on look out at coverts
God I could go on and yes I do not like to see riders in a mis match of colours and looking dirty and untidy at the start of the day

Sorry no excuse, red ribbons should stay at the back of the field, end of, or you should be ULTRA aware of those around you and keep ponies arse angled away from everyone else - wearing a ribbon is NOT an excuse

My bugbears are

impolite people

Being cut up

People who can see you may be having horse probs galloping past your horse at close quarters

People who do not appreciate those on gate duty

Stuck up people who dont appreciate a smile

Those that use hunting to give their horse a jolly - its an art FFS, learn and appreciate what is going on around you

Blimey, think I might stick to indoor show-jumping! I can count the number of times I've seen hounds on my hands, the majority of those times pre- 1991. I was planning on taking Liberty out but I'm sure I will commit most of the mistakes above . Might then get outed on here and will never be able to show my face again!

All of the above especially:
Horses that misbehave, particularly kickers
Riders who let their horses get away with said misbehaviour without disciplining them
Riders with untidy hair who won't wear a hairnet
Newcomers who don't take the trouble to read up on the etiquette of hunting
Children who make too much noise
Riders who are discourteous to members of the public

All of the above!!

My last horse never kicked and was used as brakes by the entire pony club.
My new horse kicks out when muddy (not at other horses, but end result could obviuosly be the same), she wears a red ribbon, I always park her bum in a hedge and put my hand behind my back if we get in a gateway or similar. I also beat her if she lifts a leg when she shouldn't!

People being discourteous in any way.
Lateness.
People saying 'oh I can't stop' as they sail past on the drill sitting well forward with long reins.

You really shouldn't get me started here, I hate lots!!

im not alating hunts in the general but the one round near us, are ignorant. They all stood in the middle of the road just looking and would not move out the way when they could of easily all moved so we could get through.

Oops - that'll be us!
(Probably, but if it was right where you are I can blame the East Essex).

It really bugs me when people don't move out of the way for cars.

all above plus
having to close gates by your self cos everyone else as pi88ed off and gates on floor and livestock in field grr.....................
pony clubber should be banned, or ONLY out under supervision,
As i will not stand from being used as brakes, last child who did that to me told how she should stop her pony or go home or if she did that again she would not have head cos my horse would quiet righty go out with both back barrels. For rest of day she kept out of my way

I can't abide all the ghastly plebs desperately trying to be toffs, when we all know they're lower middle-class. Yuck!

people who gallop past people who have fallen off - even if they are novices/newcomers its rude and mean. Fair enough if your horse is impossible to stop.

Naughty horses generally getting in the way and winding up the other horses.

People who cut you up or barge into you or past you, especially with no apology.

people who are rude or unfair to novices/newcomers. its not on. everyone has to start sometime, and you have to accept that they might not have lots of control but its the only way they learn.

sorry rant over :)

I sense much frustration here. I would recommend a bottle of the finest Jack Daniels prior to your hunting session.

I would also suggest taking a sawn off in case things get a little heated.

all i was saying was when you go for a gallop and you stop and you try and get out of the way.. so your not in the way its hard when people won't let you! and still shove their horses heads up your pony's back end.. its easy to say you must stay at the back of field, but you try and do it... easier said that dont most of the time!
