what do you hate? horsey related of course!

I hate mid calf deep mud in gateways
I hate hay with thorns in it
I hate endless heavy rain
I hate drivers that don't slow down even though you have so much hi-viz on you could be seen from Space
I hate having cold, wet feet, no matter how many types of boots I buy
I hate having really fat calves which stop me from owning boots that I feel would keep my feet warm and dry

Below is a list of things that really annoy me but that I don't really "hate"

-always being short of time, and covered in mud
- obsessively neat liveries who inflict their mental tics on to all those around them and don't acknowledge that you might have a job to go
-people who I am not really friends with asking to borrow my horse
- parents who have a better car and live in a better house than I using my yard as a babysitting/free pony ride service for their kids
- people on yards who purport to "hate" drama and yet are somehow always surrounded by it
-kids who want to do chores in exchange for riding but do such a poor job or require so much supervision it isn't even worth it
-people who have too many horses, so none of them get looked after that well, not bad enough to be a welfare case but still pretty poor care

HATES:

- Hay with thistles in it
- Being pulled over in the mud; i.e. two welly boots left in mud and me being towed along (face down!) in mud by two horses desperate for their suppers!
- Crettin horses who decide to swish their muddy *****ty tails just when I'm undoing their rear rug straps:(
- Dogs who decide to follow the horses out into the muddy field and come in looking like an RSPCA poster
- Following on from above...... bunged up shower plughole from putting two mucky hairy dogs straight in there after being out in the field:(
- Drivers who drive past you when you're riding and there's a puddle in the road and they don't slow down and it goes all up over the horse's legs - they hate it, who wouldn't.
- Endlessly filling up haynets
- Muddy/wet rugs everywhere - NOTHING ever dries
- having to ring the farrier yet AGAIN saying sorry but so-and-so's lost a shoe again.........

Mud clogged moustache (horses not mine thank you)
The lining of my boots which has split and I get my heel caught in and cant get my boot off
Haynets that wont co operate when you are trying to get them filled and you desperately need a wee (I do not wee in my haynets)
fieldsafe headcollar that is clogged with mud on the buckles.
Trying to get rubber gloves on they are always inside out and you have to blow in a smellypoo glove to turn right side

Winter generally, but my pet hate is badly fitted tack, bridles, and mostly nosebands, it takes a lot of self control not to go about adjusting at our local hunter trails...

:D

When your daughter's horse stands on your foot and twists when it is really, really cold...
mysterious bald patches that you convince yourself must be ringworm....
getting all ready to go to a party and the lorry not starting / clutch goes / brakes go
When the long haired ones have that dried mud all under their armpits and there is NOTHING you can do to shift it except painstaking individual finger rubbing
when you get caught in the rain and it is so bad that you have to wring out your knickers and you cant get home for 3 hours....

but then the whicker over the stable door makes it all ok again!

Some excellent examples of horsey-related hate there!!

-when people turn out in the indoor and won't move for people that want to ride.. The arena is for riding.. Want to turnout? Use your field!
Using my stuff and then it goes missing.. Even worse when it gets broken
Mud and rain
People who let their horses get away with anything and everything
Mushrooming the hay
When people use up the last of a bale of haylege but don't open a new one
Not emptying wheelbarrows
Soaked Haynets
And too many more :p

The short spiky hairs you get covered in when clipping
frozen water pipes meaning lugging water from home
cold hands and feet
Rats ..... shudder !

The state of my hands! They are cracked, sore and no matter how hard I scrub them they still look dirty! The callouses are so big that my fingers are no longer straight and my OH refuses to hold my hand :'( plus I've got a splinter from some straw I was pulling that's been there since November, unfortunately the skins grown over it and I can't get it out.
The joy of mucking out horses for a living!

I hate filling haynets!!! My girls get 9 a day and the moment I find a way to feed ad lib hay that stops them weeing on it too is the day I'm going to burn them all!!!
I'm also getting a bit fed up of the rain, getting soaked to your knickers before 8am is getting rather tiresome!! Then just as I dry off (usually about midday) I get soaked through again! Grrrrrr!!
