To have at the yard to deal with minor injuries etc. Going through mine found a lot of stuff has been out of date since 2006 , and some things, like purple spray, I dont know if I would ever use because I have been told only to clean wounds with running water. So what do you find useful?

I have an extensive horsey first aid kit, but the must haves for minor injuries are:

Salt (for making a salt water wash)
Sudocrem (has so many uses)
Cotton wool
Iodine spray
Hibiscrub
Vet wrap/gamgee
Nappies (for poulticing)
Surgical scissors

My extended kit includes fuciderm, flammazine, some ointment that promotes wound granulation (vet prescription only and can't remember the name), bute, vaseline, poultice/hoof boot, melolin, vetalintex, duct tape . . . and countless other things ;).

Because I have so many horses here I have a fully stocked vet room. I hold most drugs to keep most horses alive for hours until a vet can get out here. I also have breeding and foaling out supplies.

I don't keep much on the yard other than salt, sudocreme, wound dressings and a large syringe with a catheter for flushing.

In an emergency, the vet is minutes away or if its a minor injury, the saddlery/ supermarket/home is a 10 minute drive.

I always end up with grubby, out of date lotions and kit so now only the bare essentials are on the yard.
