we use to have a lovely tack shop that you could get anything in it it was like an aladdins cave of stuff. the window was always dressed amazing i remember one year they had a black and white assortment of stuff and i just wanted everything in the window....
my OH always sweats loads even now that i am meant to be an adult when i go to any horsey shop........and rightly so...lol
I like a wide range of makes of everything, of every quality. A lot of tack shops these days are limited in their ranges and often to the lower quality goods.
I think a second hand section is always for the win really, would also agree about lots of littler things to browse through like combs, brushes etc. I think the most important thing beside knowledgeable staff is having a welcoming and organised feel to the place and a real range of sizes and prices
completely agree....love 2nd hand stuff - including clothing as new can be so expensive and I dont mind paying good money for something which would have been out of my price range when new.....
I also love lotions and potions....all vits and mins which are available and a nice collection of hoof and body bits...I tend to have to go online to buy bits because I cant find them in my local shops...Kevin Bacon hoof ointment is one of them....took ages to get to me in the end...
Also a varied collection of rugs.....from the cheaper sort going up in price too....
I mid season sale is nice too - but with a collection of sizes rather than just the tiny sizes or childrens bits...
Hope that helps :0)
I like to see a varied range of tack and clothing. All different price ranges and sizes.
I like to rummage which is why I like Rideaway so much. Robinsons has lost that feel since it was re-built after the fire plus they tend to promote cheaper/tackier ranges and Derby House feels stuffy and as if I shouldn't be touching anything!
I agree with the second hand stuff. Clean though, no musty clothes or dirty tack. Plus I always love to think I have got a bargain so a good sale rail or two goes down well.
agree I like to see a good range of good products. there are 3 small tack shops near me, and they all stock mid to low end ranges. I want to see a wider range of high end products as well.
Go to the events and see what the latest fashions are and see what the professionals are using, But don't mark up too much. After considering postage, I would pay a fiver or so more for something in a shop, than I could get online, but wouldn't pay over the odds.
I also love to haggle, it makes you feel like you've got a bargain, even if the reality is different! ... This is where a second hand section would be great, so that pain in the ass customers like me can make themselves feel smug
Tack rather than more clothing than you could wear in a lifetime - all our local ones have loads of numnahs and reins and beggar all of anything more substantial! Not that I can afford to buy anything but I don't want to be browsing for clothes!
