I have found a yard I really like, but I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if they think there price is reasonable?
It's pure DIY only, but there is someone that offers basic services.
You have your own individual turnout, which you maintain yourself.
12 x 12 indoor stables, very tidy and newly built.
New outside 20 x 60 rubber arena all floodlit.
You have to buy your own hay and straw in.

I pay £15 pw for basic stable, individual field, tack room and feed room. Water, no electric and no school.

Up the road its £27 pw for stable, same sex turnout, shared tack room/feed room, water electric and 3 schools.

(: Hope this helps. I'm in east essex, Colchester.

I pay £22.50 per week for a 10 x 12 stable, electric, water, horse walker, 2 menages, plus an indoor ménage (big enough to ride in if weather is awful but more lunging size) all year turnout (not 24hour but as long as you like as long as they're In before 10pm.) straight on bridle ways but is an old farm type yard, tidy but stables are old barn stables. Also people to do any services if needed & we buy hay off the yard.

Just to add my stable is an old barn type.. The full liveries are new American barns & they are £27 per week but roughly the same size

I pay £160 per month per horse for:
Stable, same sex field, hay, straw and turn out and bringing in. We have an indoor school and electricity and water. The yard owners live on site and site is secure. I have two geldings and they have a field to themselves.

So it is expensive when compared to over places. It would come to around £258 with my hay and straw. Think I might give it a miss then and just keep looking.

Thats expensive imo for DIY esp as you still have to buy in bedding etc. I wouldn't mind paying more if you got a few bonus' added in. I'm not in essex but near the suffolk/essex boarder and pay £85 a month (works out at £19.62 a week) which is the cheapest I've ever paid for livery. We get stable (mines one of the bigger ones :)) space in feed room and separate tack room, individual turnout, floodlight menage which is massive and hacking round the farmers fields. I won't be moving any time soon lol

We charge 100.00 PCM for DIY. Includes 12x12 stable, individual turnout, summer and winter fields. 20x40 floodlit arena, tack room and feed room. Near Colchester.

near chelmsford, £90 per month two outdoor schools, lunge pen, off road riding, 3-4 horses per field, mares and geldings separate, lorry and trailer parking, individual tack/feed room, buy own hay and straw, all year round turn out 24hrs in summer if wanted, assistance on site if needed

and we really really need more kids/teenagers/youngsters there as its become a bit staid for my 16yr olddaughter

Where abouts in Chelmsford are you? do they do individual turnout? as my boy has to go out on his own, as he was a rig when I brought him so is still very territorial of his field & stable.

I think the price varies quite a lot depending on where in Essex you are; the closer you are to London the more exepnsive it is (around £30 -£40ish pw) but then when you move further east/north you tend to get a lot more for your money.

I currently pay £35/wk just for stable/grazing individual t/o, own tack room large stables automatic waterer, school, lunge arena, walker.

i pay extra for hay/bedding etc

Where about is this stables please?

I would say anything from £25 to £32 in the Chelmsford area - i think that what they have quoted without hay and straw is expensive.

I pay £40 per week for 12 by 12 stable in American style barn, outdoor manage, small indoor school, individual turnout and,in the dryer months, jumping paddock and some off road tracks. I pay extra for services and but my own hay and straw etc. On here, and comparing with what people have said they pay, it looks expensive....that said, I know the other yards in my area (including one mentioned on here) and I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole....so I think I'll stay!!! ;)
