Hi guys,

Just out of curiosity. What do you pay for DIY livery? What does it include? (ie. hay, straw, shavings, school). And what area are you in? does it make a difference with area?

I am in Hertfordshire and I pay £30 a week. It includes box, grazing in summer and an outdoor school. We also have access to good hacking.
Any feed, bedding, hay etc is extra. The yard feeds in the mornings for 50p/day.
 
it's not really a DIY but for my two fields (1.5 acres put together) and a shelter and shed i pay £50 PCM. in kent. Good hacking country lanes and lots of bridle paths and no main roads!!
 
I pay £170 a month which incuded as much hayladge and straw as you want, or one bag a week of shavings.

My horse is in an outdoor stable (much prefer!!) but mum and dads are indoor.. Decent but not amazing TO all year. Have horse walker, 20X60 outdoor school but you're only allowed to do flatwork in there, then there's a little jumping/lunging school which isn't great but serves it's purpose I guess. Decent hacking on small quiet lanes/fields.

We are South Derbs/Staff border. much cheaper yard in area but it's nice so I'd rather pay a bit extra.

Think further south you go = more expense!! From what I've read on here London/Surry are VERY pricey!
 
Im based in Windsor, our livery is either 180 percalender month for stable and hay or 210 for stable hay and straw, shavings and feed you buy in yourself. All year turnout can live out whenever really some still are now. We have outdoor floodlit school although its a pound for the lights. 10 min hack from windsor great park, in the summer we have a jumping paddock with some jumps, weve been having yard shows to raise money for nice new ones (first show raised 300 pounds) Also a grass track round the outside of the fields which takes bout 15 mins to walk round.we all leave feeds outside the door and first livery to arrive feeds. You can get a lady to muck out/ turnout for you shes there daily as she looks after the YO 2 ponies, its 3.50 for a muck out not sure on turn out but guessing its not expensive. We also have a lovely farmshop on site which you 10% discount on most goods!!

I pay 80 per month in Cambridgeshire.

No forage / bedding / services included but we have 1 20x40 rubber school and 1 slightly smaller sand school both with lights, 1 pallets width of hay / bedding storage in the barn, ok hacking nearby, trailer parking, and tack / feed storage area.
 
i pay £12.50 per week per horse.
it includes water and an electric fence battery and the electric to charge it. if i need them feeding one week it goes up to £15 per week each

its nothing glamorous it is cheap and cheerful with good grass and help on hand if i need it x
 
Cornwall: £25/week which includes unlimited forage (farm grown big baled hay/haylage), floodlit outdoor school, XC course, trailer parking. Straw is also big-baled and is extra, but works out about £8 a month on top.
On-site assisted available, £2 turnout/bring in etc, works out at £6.50 a day for turnout+ bring in with rug change, nets and water done, muckout and poo pick paddock.
 
Cheltenham - £50 PCM per horse. Includes great turnout 24/7/365 which I can do what I please with, stables, unlimited hay and straw, tack room, electric and water, nice hacking, but no sand school however there is one which is a 15min hack away which I can hire :D
 
I'm up north and pay £19.50 p/w for DIY. All we get for that is a stable and grazing - there is a 'school' but it's a makeshift jobby by the YO, who is completely unhorsey and fails to realise it's too dangerous for anyone to use (very deep, made with random wood chippings which include random sticks and twigs and quite small)!
 
In Herts £29 per week hay extra breakfast and dinner fed no extra cost, excellent hacking no need to go on road. 2 schools one sand and one rubber.

I pay £55 a week now in Aberdeenshire and that includes wood pellet bedding, hay/haylage, feed put in and turnout in mornings. Access to a 20x40 indoor, 60x30 indoor and 60x30 outdoor, hacking. Competitions and training on site.

It is a lot but the facilities are worth it! With the weather we get up here I sooo needed an indoor to use and now I have a choice of two. The outdoor has a good surface on it so will be fab to use when weather is fair. I dont have a trailer or lorry and my flatwork instructor keeps her horses at the same yard so is perfect for lessons. Monthly dressage and jumping competitions too.

£30/week for stable and unlimited grazing. Grazing could be 24/7/365 if I wanted it to be. That only includes water and electric. Everything else (eg hay feed bedding) is not included. No school to ride in, but there is an exercise field and straight out of the gate and you are onto the open forest where you can go for miles and miles. There's plenty worse round here for more money and/or less facilities... It is also a well run friendly yard, which is of course, priceless.

That doesnt sound like a good yard to be on and is expensive for barely any turnout and a school that isnt very good?

All the yards around here are ridiculously expensive and this one is close and small and the horses seem happy enough. I do really struggle without hacking, turnout or being able to jump but I don't think there is anywhere else that would actually suit better.
 
im in cumbria, mine is:
-£28 a week for field and huge stable, unlimited turnout all year round
-£1 a day for hay (as much as i need)
-Shavings are £6 a bale
-Free use of good size sand school which has jumps and free use of lunging pen
-Amazing off road hacking (yard in big family estate so we get keys for all the padlocks and can ride anywhere in the estate/fields)
-Free feed and turnout in the morning
-Skips out around 10.30pm for free
-If i am stuck or if weather is appalling bring in for me for free

think i have covered everything
 
I get " special" deal for 4 stables in kind of annex for £600 per month. But roofs are too low and they all leak in heavy rain! They were awful when first moved in, we had to fix electrical wiring, lights and sockets hanging off, dug out about a foot of rancid bed from each stable, provide own elec fence etc etc. Other people on main yard pay £35 per week + sooo many extras, e.g. £1.50 a time to hose legs off, £1 to use walker, £6 for electricity to clip! School lights on meter about 15-20 mins for £1. This can easily add up to an extra £15 per week on top. I calculated it would be cheaper to wash their legs off in Tesco value bottle water - crazy. School is big and surface okay, but can only lunge in field. Never been in a yard with such a high turnover - I wonder why!! But there's little choice round here, so what can you do?
 
I pay £35 Per week for DIY stable with day grasing in winter and 24hr available in summer. Horse walker, indoor, outdoor, jumps etc. shavings and hay are extra.
 
Im in Cheshire and pay £60pw per horse. This is for stable, adlib hay or haylage, indoor school, outdoor school, solariums, horsewalker, wash bays and being fed in the morning. Straw and shavings are extra.
No T/O in winter although in summer we can choose between individual paddocks or large group turnout field. There are always clinics and lessons on site and the yard is friendly and easy to get to so its worth it for me :)
 
We pay £32 per horse per month with hay £10 a week extra for big bale hay. Theres only 6 of us there so small and friendly.If one of us can't get there for whatever reason one of the other liveries will feed free of charge. We don't have a school but have electric fenced off a section for jumping in the better weather.
We are grass livery so horses live out 24/7/365 but there is a stable if needed for no extra cost

i pay £110 pounds per month for my horse, includes a nice stable, good grazing with decent electric fencing and shelter, lovely school and jumps to use.I bring all feed.hay/bedding in myself.
Lovely YO doesnt charge us for our daughters pony who is on grass livery as we bought him from her and she loves him!
 
£164 PCM for stable, all year TO (not overnight) in individual or small groups, big school, elec, water, storage, tea room, track round the edge. Hacking isn't too bad if you don't mind a lot of road work.
A full livery day which includes TO,muck out,fill hay and water,prepare feeds and bring in is £10 per day.
 
We pay £30 per week for Stable, grazing, hay + straw, true style DIY it is a farm where owners are not horsey.. We have good grazing but unfortunately no school!!!! When we moved yards i traded grazing for a school.. Cant have everything, i suppose.. We are in derbys
 
I pay £15 per week at my yard in Rutland. That includes stable, adlib straw, electric and unlimited turnout. Hay and feed we buy in ourselves. We have a small schooling area with some jumps and the hacking is good. There's only 5 of us there so we share turnout/bring in if necessary

South Glos - £25p/w. Good hacking, good turnout (limited in winter but we have nice large grassy fields and no mud), play pen, arena with lights, nice quiet yard.

Hay and straw is supplied by another farmer. It is delivered and stacked for us at £3.25 and £2.50 respectively.
